Has anyone ever used this? If so is it any good? If your mbr is attacked does it pop up an alert?

I'm sure its a rebranded product.

I see that it was mentioned there:
    http://forums.iobit.com/forum/gener...09-iobit-released-mbr-guard-beta-june-30-2017
    and:
    Current version: v1.0.0.3926 beta
    Direct Download: http://update.iobit.com/dl/MBR-Guard.exe

It installs a filter driver (IMFMBRProtect.sys) and is protecting the MBR like MBR Filter.
In additon IObit MBR Guard has an installer (MBR Filter must be installed "manually") and the executable (IObitMBRGuard.exe) is launched with each start of the system (autorun)

I'm not sure what the purpose of the executable (IObitMBRGuard.exe) is, maybe it displays a pop up alert after an application is about to modify the MBR. I don't have a VM right now to test it.

IObit don't rebrand other software. All their products are their own.

IOBit is a Chinese software company that rip-offs other's hard work and then markets it as their own. That's why it has a bad rep because it looks and feels like a clone of well-known security software.

That's certainly true, but there have been many other things that upset users. Frankly, any program that claims it will make a PC run up to 300% faster makes me immediately think of snake oil - especially with modern versions of Windows.

i dont like IObit software, too much bad taste in the past. but concerning security - such products are not necessary. it would mean that the general protection already has failed in the worst case. this is the totally wrong way to handle security, from my view.

Most IObit software is excellent, and they are always quick to fix any bugs I report to them. However their antivirus still needs a lot of work. I don't know anything about MBR Guard.
