I know. Unfortunately, you cant have both (Sandboxie and that particular shield).

To my regret, I've just used a different program to compress pictures, and BD 2018 blocked it.
I said, "No problems. I'll add it to the BD's "Advanced Thread Defense" whitelist that program, but it did not help.
In order to use that photo-compressing program, I need to turn of that Advanced Threat on BD.
    It's not only Sandboxie.
    In short.
That new BD 2018 has way too many glitches.

This morning, after I disabled BD's "Advanced Thread Defense" and started sandboxed Firefox, I got a new message.

I've closed that pop-up window without any issues to my sandboxed Firefox.

If you close the message, and Firefox works fine afterward, then you can hide it. You should try what I suggested yesterday, exclude SBIE processes in BD. I am disabling Windows defender but even so, I excluded all Sandboxie processes in WD. I went overboard, and excluded even some SBIE processes that dont need to be excluded (just in case).:)

Something interesting I found. I run Firefox about 70% of the time forced and 30% by right clicking the Sandboxie icon and then choosing a sandbox to run it. Every day I run it both ways. This glitch has to do with the theme in Firefox changing color and the right top corner of the browser looking awkward. It only happens in W10 and only when right clicking to open Firefox. It doesnt happen when Firefox runs forced or via the SandboxedWebBrowser icon.

So, when I got my W10, right away I noticed what I describe above. This past few months other people have reported experiencing something similar. My computer came with 1607. After upgrading to 1703, the glitch doesnt happen anymore. Upgrading Windows is the fix. :)

    Bo,

I've excluded all(!) Sandboxie executive files in Bitdefender Total Security 2018. All(!!!) exe files, but it did not help.

    WhitelistSandboxie.PNG

I've added that "WriteFilePath=C:\Program Files\Bitdefender Antivirus Free\*" to my Global configuration in Sandboxie, but it did not help.

Yes, it was, more or less, easy to go around that "Sandboxie & Bitdefender" with any(!) previous versions of Bitdefender.
I've been using Bitdefender for more than a decade, and always(!) was able to exclude Sandboxie's exe files and "forget about that lame conflict", but...
The latest version of Bitdefender 2018 is different!

P.S. I have never ever had any issues between Sandboxie and WD!

Problems like you are having with the AV is one of the reasons why I prefer not to use one. But WD gets along perfectly well with Sandboxie, its been like that since MSE 2. Perhaps you should think about using it instead of BD. You ll avoid headaches. In W10, I can clearly see WD has become a monster (good for people that want to use AV). And bad for people like me that dont want anything to do with antiviruses.

I ll ask Barb, and see if she got any suggestions for you.

As per Barb, if you are using BD paid, you should change the path at the end to:

    "C:\Program Files\Bitdefender\*"

Thanks a lot Bo. My greatest thanks to Barb also. :thumb:
That one line has resolved all my Sandboxie problems.
    Now.
If I could only find a solution how to exempt my image/photo compressor from that extra careful Bitdefender.

Ivo, some problems are not easy to fix, this might be one. I dont have access to Netflix so I cant test. The problem seems to be with Firefox only. I suggest you get in the habit of using Netflix with IE or Chrome. When the problem gets fixed, you switch back to using Firefox when visiting Netflix. I am a Firefox user, but thats what I would do if I was a Netflix user and experienced same issue.

LOL, good to see it's working fine on Win 10. BTW, can you perhaps check if this flaw also relates to SBIE?

I really doubt it can stop all of the tracking and spying. I would advice Bo to downgrade to Win 8 LOL.

Not only Sandboxie is doing great in W10, W10 itself feels pretty good, stable as it can be. The computer came with version 1607 and a week later I upgraded it manually to version 1703.
I am not going to install programs to handle privacy and I don't have bad feelings toward Microsoft. I disabled most privacy related settings that I didn't agree with in Settings. Its easy, they there. I dont like some of the changes MS has done in the system, like pushing their AV and Universal apps, Edge and hiding Windows photo viewer as well as not being able to handle Windows updates the way you want it, like in the past. But after finding out how to do it, it was easy to turn off WD completely and bring back Windows photo viewer. I uninstalled all UWA that MS dont care we uninstall and dont use any. I havent even ran Edge once. Believe it or not, but is true. I have a rule, if it cant run sandboxed, I cant run it. No exception. And Windows updates? the computer is new so I am letting all updates come through right now but I already know how I am going to handle that in the long run without tricks.

There are lot of things you can do to make W10 actually yours. Getting rid of just about everything that came from Dell also made a big impact, I uninstalled almost everything that came from them except some programs that I find useful. Luckily, I didn't uninstall one called Dell audio. Activating this programs make the speakers sound perfect. I got to this program around the fourth day having the computer, so I can compare the sound using and not using the program. Huge difference.

So, right now I feel pretty good about W10. And believe me when I tell you, I am using this laptop pretty much as I used my XP and W7. No difference. I dont even get any Notifications other than the ones we are used to, like the one that tells you is safe to take out a flash drive you plugged in. At first I had that one also turned off, but I missed it so I turned it back on. Not bad.

    Bo,

I have not seen any new updates for Sandboxie Beta.
    Are they on some vacation,
Or maybe, Sandboxie is just "perfect" in this current version?

Sophos is the new owner. Maybe other plans with Sandboxie in the near future?

Yes, not having full control over Win Update really bugs me. But good to read that you're not dissatisfied with Win 10 overall and that you have managed to tame it. I'm guessing that there comes a point that I will have to upgrade too, but I will postpone it as long as possible. I have even already bought a Win 8 DVD.

because it run in its own sandbox (appcontainer, which is one integrity level deeper than sandboxie) so indeed would be pointless to run it in Sbie, however Sbie have additional features which are very useful.

So it wouldn't be pointless, because of the additional features of SBIE. :thumb:

My security setup is Sandboxie and NoScript, my view is if I can not run a program under the supervision of Sandboxie (whatever the reason), I am not going to run it, I am not going to use it. I ran Edge yesterday, opened the Home page just to make sure it works but thats all I ll do with it.
