+1. At minimum though they will introduce cross-advertising nags. Will need to relook at BleachBit also - is it safe to use at defaults? I seem to remember when I used it before it was a bit 'aggressive' ...
I would bet on that too! The screenshots of BleachBit I've seen look like an older designed GUI, not that that means much though.
I didn't wait more for the slim build and installed the latest version using the full installer. We will see what's gonna happen with the alternative builds (slim and portal) after Avast acquisition.
Indeed, it is not pretty. However, it's got an open-source cleaner format in which users can write their own cleaner rules and share them with the community. In the past for example, I've taken some of their built-in cleaner rules for Thunderbird and Chrome and modified them entirely (and easily) to clean non-default profile locations since I run both profiles from RAM disk. But BleachBit does have a very slow development pace since they don't have many developers lately.
BleachBit is alpha, not seriously. wise care was giveaway last days - **** **** - would have trashed my windows with standard settings. again. (sandboxed) no mercy with users who use all of the other stuff and use it regularly - dont tell me that you mess up your windows that much to clean it up daily - rubbish, nonsense.
I always felt comfortable using CCleaner in XP amd W7 but I am not feeling good about using it in W10. Using CCleaner to delete regular stuff generates sometimes a Search Warning 3036 in Events Log in my computer. So, I uninstalled CCleaner tonight. Brummelchen, how you feel about CCleaner in W10? I would appreciate to hear opinions from anyone. Bo
I don't have any problems with CCleaner on my Win10 machines. I don't use the registry cleaner now but I have done in the past.
Hi Krusty. Can you delete a few items (not the registry) and see if you get a Search Warning 3036 in your Events log. I uninstalled CCleaner as I like a clean Events log. I dont mind benign Warnings but Warnings about Search, I rather avoid. For years, I unticked MS Search in CCleaner as it causes issues. But this Warning is new for me, as W10 and is caused by ticking something else. I tried to figure out ticking which items generates this Warning but after finding that more than a few does, I said forget about it and uninstalled CCleaner. No CCleaner, no Warnings, I prefer it that way. Bo
CCleaner never gives me any problems as I have not used it for years. Not that is has ever caused any issues, the few times I've used it. I've just never liked it.
@bo some has to view the entries to judge. but ccleaner can not solve such issues, never. ccleaner is usable on all windows but not always helpfull. in your case some need to examine it in details, some event id are common and not worth to notice. you should look at the reliability monitor for a red cross https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/d33c3cc1-a9dd-4b96-8062-edb21ee70f0e event 3036 - we need the exact message. 3036 means that the service or path behind is not available.
Right click Start, select Events Viewer (I think thats what is called in English, Click Administrative Events. or System. If you never open Events log, you ll see a bunch of errors and Warnings, most are benign and everybody gets them, so, don't worry about them. Bo
Thanks, Krusty. Are you using version 1703? I didnt get them in 1607. I only had 1607 for one week, but I would know if I did. Bo
Is Warning 3036 for Search. I uninstalled CCleaner, at least for now. I am a CCleaner junky, I ll have to get used to No CCleaner in W10. Bo
