Avira Antivirus for Windows 2017, Version v.15.0.28.28 released on July 10, 2017. Product version v.15.0.28.28 (Update 28). ------------------ Installer 221 MB -> 229 MB http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-antivirus-pro Changelog : https://www.avira.com/en/support-for-home-knowledgebase-detail/kbid/1699
What outbound rules are required for the Windows Firewall to allow Avira to perform updates? Separately, what outbound rules are required for the Avira cloud functionality to work?
In windows 10, avira connect tray icon is gone. It starts , but then disapears. Reinstall didn't work.
I didn't have to do anything special to allow mine in Windows firewall, seems to work by default. If you have configured any special rules yourself, or allowed a 3rd party firewall product to create rules, you may have to allow it. The updater runs from this path: 'C:\program files (x86)\avira\antivirus\update.exe'
That's not a bug, it's a feature, LOL! JK... I usually have Connect disabled in Windows Task Manager to prevent it from starting at boot. But when I do let it run, the icon likes to hide under the hidden alerts "^" icon in the notification area. If it's in there, you can just drag it down onto the taskbar to keep it visible.
Thanks. Do you have outbound traffic blocking enabled? I can get minor definition updates to work by excluding the updater from outgoing blocking, but major updates like the one that took place the other day will not go through without an additional exception. The question is, what needs to be excluded in order for that to work?
See if this helps... programdata\avira\antivirus\temp\selfupdate\33db1eac.upd\update.exe programdata\avira\antivirus\temp\selfupdate\388735b6.upd\update.exe program files (x86)\avira\antivirus\update.exe programdata\avira\antivirus\temp\selfupdate\update.exe
Well that's a good question. I allow all outbound traffic through Windows Firewall. Then I add Windows 10 Firewall Control (Free) by Sphinx Software to control my outbound traffic. I have trained it each time it prompts me for something trying to go outbound. So generally an alert gets raised that I can respond to, so usually nothing breaks. This uses the built-in Windows Filtering Platform, so it does not need to add any drivers to the system. The free version does run in parallel with the Windows Firewall, but you can leave the Windows Firewall alone, and do all the rule making in W10FC. http://www.sphinx-soft.com/Vista/index.html
Did you follow the instructions given in KB902? https://www.avira.com/en/support-for-home-knowledgebase-detail/kbid/902
No one likes it. Have to get used to it. Is not there. No, those not. I just tried to reinstall Connect (as they advised at first) , but that didn't work either. Now they opened a ticket, i sent them info using their "Support Collector" tool. i will wait for their answer.
I checked here as I was having difficulty getting updates. http://isup.me/ A website called Is it down for everyone or just me.
Re VDF updates yesterday: a) PC with U29 beta: no problems. b) 3 PCs with U28 stable: "Update failed" = ------------------ Now all PCs updated normally.
I can now reach the site to submit a sample. Which I couldn't do before either. However still unable to reach Avira.com from Toronto.
