too much fixes for a final, sorry, looks like alpha or beta status when fixing so many small bugs. could mean less feedback due less feedback or because less users.

*Correct version 7.1.30777.0 now displays in "Menu > Help > About". Due to this versioning error, if you had installed version 7.2.30761.0, you may have to uninstall and reinstall if you get an error when trying to update. I received this error as I had version 7.2.30761.0 installed but the update seemed to install successfully. To be safe, I went ahead and did an uninstall and reinstall anyways. If you need or decide to do an uninstall and reinstall, be sure you have a current backup of eM client and a copy of your license code handy (although I did not need either).

    Hello @sukarof,

To be honest, I have never totally figured out their update procedures...

Whenever they have major version updates (like 6.x to 7.0 or 7.0 to 7.1), they almost always have betas which are announced and available for download from their blog.

The minor updates usually show up on their main download page and are usually reflected on their release history page. The release history page can be confusing as they are always deleting version changelogs. For example, the release history page at the moment shows only three 7.1 series releases but as you can see from this thread there have been many more.

As for the internal updater, it almost never finds updates even though their download page provides a newer version. The user is left with a choice, wait until the internal updater finds an update (no rhyme or reason here as far as I can see) or download the latest and install "over the top". As far as to these being betas, they are the versions being offered for download on their site so one must assume they are considered stable.

I like eM Client and I do use it but I have always found their updates to be confusing. Their update process is hard to follow at times. New versions released with new changelogs, changelogs randomly deleted as new versions are released, the internal updater not finding updates even though their site states a newer version is available. For me it is a good product with mismanagement and confusion on the update end.

If any of the above makes sense to you then good as it does not to me. I feel when a version is released on the website, shortly thereafter (within a few days at most) the internal updater should automatically update. None of the changelogs on the release history page should ever be deleted. There is just not enough transparency in this whole process. I have tried many email clients and eM Client is the closest to what I want and I was lucky to get a lifetime license at a good discount a few years back. The decision I have made is to use the product and I deal with the update issue by visiting their site every day or so to check on the latest versions. I post the updates here and try to provide a history as to make the update process a bit less confusing to others that use eM Client and want to stay up to date.

Would I like to see them change this process? Sure... but it has been this way for as long as I have used eM Client and they seem stuck in their ways as they have been doing it and/or are reluctant to change.

    I hope this helps ;) ...

    Hello @sukarof,

You are most welcome ;) ...

If they would just make use of the internal updater and and better document their release history without deleting so many changelogs, I would be a happy camper :thumb: ...
