Did you hide KB2952664 when you got it offered June 7, like I did?
If so, KB2952664 is still hidden and you don't get it offered now.

    23+ hours ago, I installed KB4025341, July 11, 2017, Monthly Rollup for Windows 7 SP1 x64.
Update was smooth and all is well, no issues to report.

If it were me I would just install KB4025342 from the catalog as it's a cumulative update and should contain previous updates such as KB4022716 anyway.

It's odd you aren't being offered them on that machine. The only thing I've seen regarding the latest update failing is this (which doesn't seem to apply to you)

I checked to see what was available. I initiated the update, and it took 5.5 hours before I got the reboot to restart Windows.

I don't why it took so long. But, they are installed and my laptop is running fine.

Thanks @stapp. I will take an image and give that a go.

Edit: Btw I do have Comodo FW on another machine. Just received the Comodo update now. Had set that machine to metered connection to prevent issues.

Microsoft Win 10 July cumulative update shenanigans. Sorry if it's tl;dr.

I tried installing KB4025342 cumulative update from catalog and I got 'The update is not applicable to your computer': https://support.microsoft.com/en-za...cable-to-your-computer-error-when-you-install

Huh? Well, it explains why WU is not picking it up.So I thought I'd try KB4022716. But it's been pulled from MS catalog.

WU troubleshooter repeatedly shows this i.e. on successive runs.

    Issues found

Service registration is missing or corrupt Fixed
    Reset service registration Not run

Potential Windows Update Database error detectedPotential Windows Update Database error detected
Possible issues may prevent Windows Update from keeping your system up to date. Fixed
Repair Windows Update Database Corruption Completed

Windows Update components must be repaired
One or more Windows Update components are configured incorrectly. Fixed
Repair Windows Update components Not run

Check for pending updatesCheck for pending updates Fixed
Download and Install pending updates Completed

Well, at least I'm not the only one: https://www.tenforums.com/windows-u...ooter.html?s=3e94aabd0e09042bdfa0415b5953c33b
except he could at least install the KB.

sfc /scannow shows no integrity violations.

Also, other Windows Updates e.g. WD, Office are working fine.

So I thought I'd try the KB4025342 delta update! It all went like clockwork, until the the last moment: KB4025342 was not installed.

This is on my newest laptop, three older laptops all updated fine.

So I either give up, and hope a future update sorts this out, or I (reluctantly) try resetting WU? https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/24742-reset-windows-update-windows-10-a.html

Edit: Retried delta update, and got the 'not applicable' message ...

Are you running Creators Update 1703? I'm running the 1607 Stable Build and no issues with the July Cumulative Update here.

    You try this?

    dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

When "checking for updates" was dragging on past five minutes and I didn't get an MSRT one month but got the same one twice the next month, I refreshed Windows.

The Windows Update troubleshooter never "fixed" anything for me, nor were sfc and dism insightful. Just don't have the patience--if an update didn't show after day 3, I'm pretty certain something's elusively off with Windows. You're supposed to get all these updates roughly on time. :cautious: It's noteworthy you're getting updates for Defender, though.

Edit: Do you have wireless Internet? I use Ethernet and when Windows works properly, there's no problem with these big kb.

I used both on Win 10.

Originally, Wi-Fi connection via USB D-Link "g" adapter to WAP connected to my router. Wi-Fi adapter max. speed 50 mbps. Never got higher than 16 mbps w/avg. 10 - 13 mbps.

Later updated to ATT fiber 1000 mbps on the router mainly for increased U-Verse download bandwidth. Switched PC to Ethernet using home wiring connection adapter. Ethernet "g" adapter max. speed with that connection was 100 mbps. Never got higher than 50 mbps download speeds w/avg. around 40 mbps.

Can state that Win 10 update download speeds greatly increased factoring in the "throttling" done by the Microsoft update servers. Believe this is the main issue in that MS will only let you stay connected so long. So you need high speed connection to download as much as possible within your allotted time slice.

Might buy a USB "a or b" adapter and connect over Wi-Fi and see what happens. Should be much faster than Ethernet home wiring adapter connection since those peak out at 50 mbps which is what I am now getting.

Not yet, downloading an .iso now to try that. sfc /scannow comes up clean though.

I tried stand-alone installing now superseded KB4022716 but got the same 'This update is not applicable to your computer' so it started there already.

It could be a corruption, but I am inclined to think it is more likely a MS issue, because other WUs are working fine and I otherwise have no problems, now or before.

Plan B is to maybe try a repair install ...

    Tried repair install: https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html

Got a black screen on final boot - and two new entries in my boot menu, Windows Setup and another Windows 10 entry. So something wasn't quite right.

Did manage to boot into Windows 10 though to see System>About was latest build 483.

But it was very unstable so have reverted to prior image.

I may try again in a few days. I am starting to think there may be some corrupted sector(s) on my SSD as I did spot some brief chkdsk activity during one of the install reboots (unless that is normal).

Plan C will be a clean install when Fall CU arrives. Trying to avoid that for now, too much stuff installed.

No need for an ISO. Just run the command from an admin level command prompt window.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32>dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
    Version: 10.0.15063.0

    Image Version: 10.0.15063.0

    Error: 126

The specified module could not be found.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

    Dism.log attached.

I downloaded the .iso to mount, and source the install.esd but that didn't work either.

If you're missing dism.exe which is located in Windows\System32 directory, appears you have OS installation problems.

You might have to resort to a Win 10 repair option to resolve everything. I assume you have tried SFC and it did not detect any issues?

I don't think dism.exe was missing, as paulderdash was able to run dism.exe, and it reported version number and created dism.log.
I don't know what "Error: 126, The specified module could not be found" meant, I don't know what module was meant, but I don't think dism.exe was meant.

dism was broken in Creators Build up until May 21 (for me at least). I don't know what the version was at that time but paulderdash says his version is currently 413. If he was able to update after that time, he should have been able to run dism successfully. He said he suspected some problems on his hard drive- did he run chkdsk /f yet? If that's OK, if this was me, I'd throw in the towel and reinstall Windows.

Edit: I ran chkdsk /f via admin. command prompt out of curiosity. After restart due to "can't run while volume in use", it took a few seconds, restarted again, showed complete at 100% and loaded desktop. I went looking for the results and ended up following winaero's guide. :thumb: No reports for me so OK, I guess..

    Good point.

Dism.exe creates all its run files in %AppData%\Local\Temp directory; at least so in ver. 1607. If access to that directory is denied, it will fail.

Oops! My apologies. Brain is not fully functioning today:rolleyes:

You have to run dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth from the Powershell command line interface as admin:

    Thanks everyone.

I have found my problem :thumb:. I had previously discovered that HitmanPro.Alert latest beta (with new mitigations) was preventing me running sfc /scannow.
After disabling the HitmanPro.Alert service (thanks @Peter2150 for that suggestion), it ran fine - and clean btw.

On a hunch, I disabled the service again, and I was able to successfully run the KB4025342 delta from the MS catalog. So did not really test WU again, but at least I have the update from 413 to 483 now.

So some interference there, on my machine at least. Will report it to the devs and on the HitmanPro.Alert Beta thread.

Will check out DISM again later.
