Any other suggestions out there for low, low footprint and little to no disk access but good protection? np...Really didn't care for the constant disk access with Comodo Cloud. Seems to be, that would be something they would have a hard time fixing and is most likely the way it will perform. I gave it a chance on a number of machines and it failed miserably on disk access as well as system drain. Not to mention I never see Comodo in any of the AV Comparatives tests. Kind of hard to know how well it performs against others when they are not being tested against others. Bitdefender is working great though.

Nope. I would try it perhaps when they get added to AV Comparatives. Until then, I'll stick with Bitdefender. No sense uninstalling something that is performing this well now.

Fixes:
- After 30 days periodic full scan, scanner keep coming back scanning system even after full scan is completed.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused, we have taken preventive measures in Quality Assurance to avoid such problems in future.

I have not run benchmarks, and don't know if it is actually impacting PC performance, but the i/o read bytes do seem pretty high.

Could you please disable the realtime AV and check again?
Even if the realtime AV is off, CCAV should check the Comodo online whitelist/blacklist database by the file rating setting

We are happy to announce release of Comodo Cloud Antivirus v1.11.417572.505.

The primary goal of this release has been to be able to detect crashes in the wild and have them reported. This will allow us to provide even more stable product in future releases that works for all.

Following are changes:

New:
1. Microsoft Edge Browser Support in Sandbox: Edge browser is now fully supported in Sandbox for all versions of Windows 10, including latest creators update.

2. Crash Reporting: Comodo Cloud Antivirus will detect crash of one of it's applications and offer user to upload crash and other diagnostic data by showing dialog as shown in enclosed snap Crash_Reporting.png

3. Improved Potentially Unwanted Applications (PUA) Detection: We have created a back-end infrastructure that is analyzing domains in the wild and able to classify some of domains as PUA domains, which are short lived and mainly generate PUA files. You will see such detection via that cloud driven heuristic as shown in enclosed snap: PUA_Detection.png

4- Copy any shortcuts created by Sandboxed applications to my desktop: This check box is present under Sandbox settings. This feature has been enabled by default. Now you have a control over this and can de-select if you don't want that default behavior.

5. Controlling Network Activity of Sandboxed Applications: As a first towards providing some form of network control over applications running in Sandbox, we have introduced following two check boxes under Sandbox settings:
- Block incoming connections to Sandboxed applications
- Block outgoing connections from Sandboxed applications

These are disabled by default and best suited for Advanced users at the moment:
Limitations:
Above options are confined to TCP traffic only and thus focusing on controlling data oriented network traffic only.
So other protocols like UDP/ICMP, are still allowed.
In next sprints, based on feedback, we will be aiming:
- To cover all protocols
- Allowing applications based exclusions
- Creating Advanced installation option where user can change these defaults

This is without introducing network Firewall and still letting Advanced users control to some extent network activities of Sandboxed applications.
Aim has been to keep things light and still provide a degree of control.

Fixes:
6 - "Ask for Unknown Applications" setting in Sandbox was not working as expected in Windows 10 Creators update, as had been reported in below post:

7 - Sometime setups couldn't be cancelled in Sandbox as reported here.
You should be able to cancel now. Please report if you still come across cases where setup can't be cancelled.

Comodo Cloud Antivirus v1.12.419801.531 Released

Hi All,

Thank you very much for all the feedback on beta testing.
We are pleased to announce release of Comodo Cloud Antivirus v1.12.419801.531.

Following are changes:
New:
1) Protected Files / Folders:
"Settings-->Sandbox->Protected Data" has now been renamed as "Settings-->Sandbox->Protected Files/Folders".
It means following:
- Like before, you can define folder which can't be modified, now contents inside those folders will be invisible to Sandbox apps. So neither read nor write is allowed.
- You can define any file path and it won't be visible to Sandboxed applications
- As default you will find following entries in there:
%SystemDrive%\users\*\documents\*
%SystemDrive%\users\*\pictures\*
%SystemDrive%\users\*\videos\*
%SystemDrive%\users\*\saved games\*
%SystemDrive%\users\*\onedrive\*
%SystemDrive%\users\*\favorites\*

i.e. no file inside above defined folders will be visible to Sandboxed application.

The objective is that even if you have a malware in Sandbox, it now even can't read your data and transfer.
So sandboxed applications are now having access to only files, which are either created by them or they can read other contents as long as they are not defined in this section.

2) Enhanced Clipboard Protection:
Earlier we prevented clipboard access to Sandbox application, where sandbox application could not access clipboard, now sandboxed application clipboard data could also not be copied outside. It takes care of situations where malware applications could transfer malicious contents via clipboard to outside sandbox. Even though you were protected due to default-deny, but now that situation itself is prevented from arising.

3) Recognizer Update Control:
Earlier recognizers could be auto updated. Now user has control. In "General Settings -->Updates" now there is a check box "Update recognizer automatically", selected by default, it lets you control recognizer update.
Additionally after this release onward, we will just have to flip a configuration setting on server side to convert recognizer from test mode to alert mode and vice-versa without requiring new binary update.

4) Clearing Recently Used Virtual Apps
Earlier if you used 'Run Virtual' option, you could have executed apps list always there. Now you can clear up. There is a trash icon in there.

5) Crash Fixes:
In last major release v505, we introduced crash reporting. It has been of great help and allowed us to receive reports beyond forums community. Many crashes have been fixed and this is a much-stable version. Our objective is to ensure that we create a product that works for all and is rock-solid. We will continue to fix issues as received from users.

6) Advanced Protection
Now "Settings-->Browser Settings Protection" has been renamed as "Settings-->Advanced Protection" and it's settings moved as sub section "Browser Settings Protection", allowing to add more sub sections in there.

How good, really, is viruscope?
I am missing a HIPS in this Av or their Defense+ hence the question.

And, can viruscope still not monitor activities outside of the sandbox?

In CIS you can set virusscope to monitor either all apps or sandboxed apps only.
In CCAV you don't have this option and it monitors sandboxed apps only.
I can't say how good it is, i have never had any alert from virusscope, but i have seen some tests on youtube and it seems good

Thought I would give Comodo Cloud another shot here on a couple of systems, but man it still runs heavy. In comparison, AVG is very smooth and light. I like some of the features that Comodo offers over AVG, but I just don't like that heavy feel and the disk access that is happening a lot with it installed.

I heard several people saying CCAV has a high I/O rate, but I have never experienced that problem.
I also feel it very light on system resources, just a little bit more than Comodo Firewall
