    hi guys
what is the recommended location on hdd for a portable browser folder by PA?Program files or user space or directly under C:\?
And i use portable browsers without PA platform, directly downloading and installing paf files to a folder and placing that folder to a proper place on hdd and run the browsers from there.is this bad practice?shoul i use pa platform?
    thanks in adv.

you cannot use "program files" its locked either admin or not (forget any instruction to gain access if you like to have your windows intact) . you can use another root folder /eg. c:\portables) but in general people unpack their portables on different partitions which are not affected from windows issues which needs a backup or full reinstall.

PA is the regular known platform for portables. its portables a royal free and have the full agreement from the author/vendor.

i dont like its portables, their structure is complicated, not transparent enough for newcomers and in some parts not specific enough. i cannot give any example as i dont use any of them, i create my own based on my deep analysis and experience.

Do you have only one HDD? If yes, how many partitions are there?
Personally I use SSD and HDD. I got SSD with two partitions and I place my portable apps on non-system partition. This way I retain speed of SSD, don't increase image size of system partition and retain portable apps intact in case of system image restore.
So IMO location depends on your setup.
I think that you don't need to use PA platform and can use portable apps separately.

    imdb,

I agree with Minimalist. Use portable apps separately. Don't place them in the system partition.

    What is "PA"?
I´m not currently using any portable app, but I have also put them in "program files" in the past, also in the OS partition. I don´t like apps in any other partition.

    imdb,

After extracting the .paf I put the folder in my data partition. I prefer to keep the OS partition lean and mean. This makes for smaller OS backups and faster OS restores. The data partition is backed up with data mirroring software.

Not if RamDisk is saved during shutdown.

I only have 1 partition. When it comes to using any internet facing app, I only run those under a limited user account. I typically place portable apps that run over the web somewhere in the limited user profile. That way they don't have admin privileges.
