Behavior Blocker based, it is not "traditional" signatures per se, but they are rules that receive some updates and tweaks.

Like I said many times in that Malwaretips thread, it was just a cosmetic change, Emsisoft has zero-day protection against Ransomware for years (behavior blocker).

I lost some time in that thread because of this kind of reasoning and posts:

I imagine that Fabian didnt even care to answer this kind of posts.

Off topic but what is SUA I see in your signature? It is probably something obvious but just can't think of anything at the moment. Thank you.

    I would say both.
Though the change described in blog is connected to behavior blocking part.

Yes, seems like it is truly behavioral monitoring based. The BB is better than I thought:

mm..... maybe you can find some friend still had student position ,
or try to find few people to buy it together , more user buying together can be cheaper ~

    P.S :
As i know the Emsisoft License do not limit the position , it's doesn't matter where you live ,
so you can buy from other local reseller ( if it's cheaper ) ,
than direct register you license key into Emsisoft License Center , it's also legal ;)

WD , you mean Windows Defender ?
if it's , i still suggest you should change to Emsisoft ( or other AV software)
WD is not quite bad , but not good enough ~

I had saw many people asking for help on other forum ,
because their system had be infected ,
and i discover , they are all using WD only .

WD is not quite good at defend PUP、PUA、hijack ,
also it's pretty bad at defend ransomware :(

Duly noted. Not sure I am definitely going with EAM but I may. Thanks.

In making your decision note that Emsisoft has a Loyalty Program -- 25% off on license renewals + an additional 5% more for every subsequent year you renew.

I just found out about that the other day which is nice. One concern I have is that it does not do well with Phishing. I am ok with it but not everyone lol.

VS is something I need to try. Any advice for a VS noob? :)

Sure, you can send @VoodooShield a personal message with request, he is also very open to questions and issues on his thread. It's relatively simple to use and very recommended for a layered solution.

Just renewed my EAM License for 4 years instead of NOD32 due to the fact that they can't get their bugs fixed (pause protection button disappeared for a long time now)

Well yeah, I use a program called SyncBack Pro to backup my stuff to an external HDD and when I just upgraded my license for that from v7 to v8, they gave me a 1 year free license for EAM, so I thought what the heck, let me upgrade that license for another 3 years so total of 4 :)

anyone knows if Emsisoft Anti-Malware whitelists safe files after an initial scan for better performance in the future for those files that are safe?

Sounds like a great deal. If there were some discounts to be had I would likely purchase a 1 year license. But for now, until that time comes, I am using WD.

Just upgraded my license to a 12 PC/10 year license! It's that good and light! Love how well it does with PUP detections
