It looks like chrome has 2 prediction settings that can be checked or unchecked. Which setting is for prefetching.

"use a prediction service to load pages more quickly"

is a bit weirdly named, but analysing my dns server log, I can confirm that prefetches dns. My observations are it does not preload pages, just does the dns lookup.

I haven't tried with the regular Firefox yet, but on Firefox nightly, ESC key certainly does nothing regarding the zapper.
latest FF nightly + uBO 1.12.5b17

Yeah, I read, I also tried with all add-ons disabled except uBO, ESC key does nothing. All I can do to exist the mode is close the tab. When tried with the console on, nothing showed up.

Maybe something else is "eating" the Esc key, preventing the event from reaching uBO. Something to try when this occurs: right-click on the page to bring up the contextual menu, then right click again somewhere on the page to dismiss the contextual menu, then try again the Esc key. Does it works now?

I've also noticed that if element zapper is accessed via Alt + Z then pressing Esc works.

So what would the URL be for this? I added this in and nothing happened.

Go to website and choose one host file.
For example "Unified hosts = (adware + malware)". Now copy&paste the link from the column "Raw hosts" to uBlockO:

Apply applying of the changes it was added to uBlockO:

Got it thank you. Are there recommended filters for ad blocking? I've been running the defaults that uBO comes with, but I am sure there is overlap.

Just remember the more ad filters you and and enable, the more likely you're going to encounter broken pages.

i have/need some whitelisted servers (several cdn and google services) because websites more and more rely on open services with common scripts. and there is nothing bad in it. thats part of experience with uBo.

Yes, adding too much filters often leads to a "broken websites"-experience.

    Thanks for pointing this out.

It does bother me to see newcomers to uBO being advised to enabled extra filter lists on top of the default ones. This is not a good advice, as more lists will directly translate into increased probability of false positives, and hence a increased probability of bad first impression for uBO.

The default filter lists are good for anyone new to uBO, and for all the extra stuff, people will find out at their own pace, if they want more out of it.

I think advising new users that blocking 3rd-party frames is probably wise.

Yup I have mine with all the defaults. I have tried adding and deleting a few, but always go back to default. I am not an advanced user so I tend to leave well enough alone. I guess if I were to have my pie in the sky I would like to use less lists and still have the same advantage of all of the defaults that are checked off.

It seems like a copy to me. Copy = fork.
