AppCheck v2.0.1.14 Released (24 May 2017) https://www.checkmal.com/page/product/appcheck/ Download: https://www.checkmal.com/download/AppCheckSetup.exe The version number on the website must be a typo. After installation i can see 2.0.1.14:
I just realize there is a freeware version, what is the general consensus, is it stable and compatible with most other apps?
Good to know, I did read that Mister X had problems with constant disk writing but he solved it by disabling certain features which aren't available in the freeware version anyway. I'm trying to decide which of the free anti-ransom tools to install. Contenders are RansomFree, RansomOff and AppCheck.
The disk writing thing is caused by the "Auto Backup" feature it has. Once you disable it, problem solved. If a ransomware was able to encrypt some files before AppCheck catches it, and, AppCheck can't unfortutanetly recover them somehow, I can live with such situation. I have backups made by other means.
OK I see. I believe this feature isn't available in the free version, but I also don't really need it.
The pro-version also provides a MBR protection and AppCheck is terminating & removing the malware from hard disk (in the free version AppCheck is "only" terminating malware) If you don't need it, the free version is sufficient.

I have had Pro for the better part of a year now and have had no software conflicts with it. Should you happen across any issues Ikko is very quick to address them if you email him using the address on his site.
Exactly my experience too, Ikko is very quick to respond to emails. I'm so impressed I've started to look at their corporate solution.

I've checked it out, and so far no problems at all, seems to be running smoothly. But what is the difference between Ransom Guard and Shelter? I also noticed that AppCheck is constantly triggering I/O reads and writes, even when all protection is disabled. Is this normal? I wonder if it's bad for SSD drives.
