"How Telegram Became The App Of Choice For ISIS As Twitter and Facebook crack down, extremists have flocked to the private messaging app..." http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry...254e4b0ec129d3136d5?ncid=inblnkushpmg00000009
Funny how they always call it an encrypted/secure messaging app when it doesn't use end-to-end encryption by default and end-to-end encryption is not even available on group chat.
Even better, E2E isn't available on the desktop at all and it will never have device sync. Compared to Signal, Telegram seems like a bit of a joke security-wise. And the Telegram creator has the nerve of accusing Signal of having a backdoor. Makes me wonder what kind of joker he is.
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/06/14/telegram_boss_backdoor_offer_claim/ "The encryption of Signal (=WhatsApp, FB) was funded by the US Government. I predict a backdoor will be found there within 5 years from now," Durov claimed.
The fact that Russia believes/knows(?) Telegram can give out messages if they wanted to pretty much says all I need to know about Telegram's "security." https://telegram.org/faq#q-how-secure-is-telegram Their FAQ certainly hasn't aged well now that WhatsApp is using E2E for every single message.
