Interesting, but the only problem is that most people still need to use Win32 apps. So the Windows Store should list both UWP and Win32 apps. But it would be a great way to secure noobs.

A crippled version of Windows like Chrome OS? No thanks.

USA still the best. But barely.
Everything in the cloud? Whoopee! Might as well walk around naked.

It seems to be better suited for tablets than the full Win10 and indeed, for noobs it is a giant security step :D

"The name "Cloud" has nothing to do with "the cloud," and it might be a temporary name, just to confuse testers about the OS' real purpose, which is a smaller size and a faster operating speed."

So M$ is going to keep calling these new OS's W10? Well that won't be confusing.

Basically it is a locked and lighter Win10 , so yes they will still call it Win10 but you have the cloud suffix , that change everything ! :argh:

Weird that they didn't think of it earlier. Most noobs probably don't download that many apps on desktop PC's, so they won't care about being restricted to the Win Store.

because people will complain like idiots ; look how many complained about Metro Apps even without using Win8/10...They don't even know that every Metro App is in Appcontainer so safer than all classics 3rd party apps

This "walled garden" feature should be made optional. And I personally also don't like Metro Apps, I have checked them out on Win 8, and they suck. But of course the AppContainer and UWP concept is quite interesting.

Windows as a service sounds like it could be expensive. Win ten is said to be the last to be sold as a stand alone OS. Could tis be a reason to go to a Mac?

If it comes to this then yes - Mac or Linux - depending on what I'll be using my PC for.

As a service means its like Linux.

You basically have a rolling branch and a stable branch.

On Windows 10, most people will be on the rolling branch.

Yes that's situation at the moment. But things could change in future. They could impose online accounts only, restrict even more configuration of OS by user, only allow installations from their store by default... Who knows what future will bring.

Microsoft has already created a Windows Cloud system in Windows 10 S.

I'm sure a locked-down OS isn't what most people have in mind.

Sounds like a recipe for compatibility problems and frequent crashes. Looks like a dumb idea. Apple looks more attractive to me now. It's a stable controlled environment.

Previous versions of Windows were fixed point releases. Now updates will be incremental - they will be rolled out over time.

The only Windows still a fixed point release will be Enterprise LTSB.

Microsoft has always been good at supporting legacy programs so I think we'll be fine. Most of the new features they add are simply built on top of the Windows 10 we already have, like new UWP features and API.

The new cloud OS or whatever seems to simply be Windows 10 S, Microsoft's response to Chrome OS. It can benefit us all if more programs start getting UWP counterparts since they are more secure in every way.
