From what I remember you are very conservative with downloads and installs, so I don't think there are any elevated risks in how you are operating.

Does AppGuard protect against the WannaCry SMB Exploit attack? Not only against file execute from user space.

    Make sure you save it.

P.S. Same as SHvFI. If Developers or Lockdown does not want this link posted, I will delete and clear reference.[/plain]

i personally think the link should be not made public but given in case by case; since officially there is no more trials (link removed from their site) , and this is an outdated version (despite being exactly the same as v5).

Now only @Lockdown will tell if we can put it or not.

Technically, it isn't made public, but available to those people that know how to find it and who are pointed to it. The link is not common public knowledge with a direct link on an AppGuard LLC webpage.

AppGuard does not protect networking. It is a software restriction policy program. Networking needs to be handled using system tweaks and\or router and\or firewall.

I am not going to advise on networking security matters since that has nothing to do with our products.

There is a lot of confusion about SMB, how it works, and what that means in practical terms for a user. I suggest people research SMB and WannaCry using multiple online sources. A lot of the explanations online are not clear in practical terms - so it is best to read multiple sources very carefully and piece everything together.

guest and Lockdown, don't want to make any problems about posting a link to AG;s v4 latest version. My rationale was that I do not believe one can purchase a lifetime license for v4 anymore as v5 has been introduced AND with it, the new purchasing model. Plus, Trooper has been a member of this board for a long time and I know he/she will eventually purchase AppGuard after testing it. What with all the info and help in this thread being available, why not?

Just was trying to help Topper get the link to download AG v4 as this is a huge thread and I do not know if he/she has been following it. To locate that link, would be time consuming and tedious. But, if you want, I will delete my post. No problem!

Really only AppGuard and security enthusiasts visit this thread; while available to anyone, this thread is not common public knowledge. It is OK to point someone to the link. The problem is that if that link starts to be abused. If that happens I am pretty sure that eventually operations will take it down.

Anyone who using the 4.4.6.1 installer without a legitimate license is NOT entitled to ANY official support. So for a person that wants to "trial" AppGuard using the 4.4.6.1 installer they are on their own = DO NOT submit support requests to BRN.

Official support requires a legitimate license.

One of the reasons that the trial was eliminated is that trial users kept submitting support requests to BRN. There is no support granted except for legitimate licenses that have been activated.

A license for 4.4.6.1 can no longer be purchased. Therefore, it can be trialed, but cannot be activated - which means there is no support for 4.4.6.1 except for those that have a license for it that was activated prior to the release of 5.2.

Support for AppGuard on "questionable" Windows images will not be supported.

That means if you install a Windows image that has not been paid for and activated using the official activation method designated by Microsoft for that image, and you then install AppGuard on that Windows image, that AppGuard installation will be unsupported by AppGuard LLC\Blue Ridge Networks.

I want to be clear about the rationale for this policy. Every single support request that we have received regarding AppGuard being randomly disabled or other strange AppGuard behavior has been from users employing a "questionable" Windows image. The Windows System logs from such Windows installations are full of hardware, networking and\or other errors that have nothing to do with AppGuard itself. The errors might affect AppGuard's functionality, but AppGuard itself does not cause the problems. We cannot provide any remedy for non-AppGuard issues; such issues have to be resolved directly by the user by other means.

From support logs it is not difficult to determine if Windows was legitimately activated.

Also, hardware, networking and any other issues (this includes those caused by Windows itself and any 3rd-party software) not directly caused by AppGuard itself on a valid Windows image will not be resolved by AppGuard LLC\Blue Ridge Networks support. Only issues caused by an AppGuard product itself are supported.

Likewise. Abused support can cause a company financial distress. I've seen it.

You know that I provide much more in-depth support than the average support. I go quite the distance to solve user issues, but I can only go so far - there is a line in the sand.

I will point out that we do not charge a separate support fee. AppGuard Consumer support generates no revenue and every support case is an expense.

No doubt about your support excellence! That's why I try to NEVER cross that, imaginary or not, line.

I expect some people will have a nuclear meltdown about it. People get worked-up about things - I get that. However, in reality, it will probably only affect a small number of people.

It's not a matter of judging, it is a matter of realistic practicality.

If you have added powershell to User Space with Include=Yes, you have to untick it at Guarded Apps. If you don't untick it, Powershell can be started.
