Totally agree. I only have it because of my job. I work in IT.

"The traditional means of protecting customers by having humans write signatures based on malware they’ve analyzed, essentially the original method of developing antivirus, is, practically speaking—dead."

    Yep, thank you.

I mean the Windows Defender settings tab. You should see a box for PUA detection. Tick it and you're done.

That's only for Enterprise edition of Windows 10 but you can still enable PUP detection via a reg trick

I enable the tweak on every installation of Windows 10 I do, which is a lot, and have never seen it cause a single issue.

Ach, of course! I'm running LTSB so its already included but users still need to need to install the registry hack to enable it on other Windows 10 editions. I appreciate your pointing it out.

I love it.... don't mind the lack of new features but I haven't seen anything superior to classical Windows and 32 bit desktop apps are way superior to universal apps. Microsoft has a lot of work to do to make CB attractive enough for me to switch.

    @NormanF :
    You totally missed the point.
Prove your statement with a screenshot.

    I guess you can't...

I have activated PUA/PUP detection on tons of Windows 10 PCs for one and a half year now.
All of them runs perfectly and blocks PUA/PUPs perfectly.

The same experience has been mentioned repeatedly by many, many members here in this thread and on many other forums.

Activating PUA/PUP detection will NOT bork WD in any way whatsoever. It will just increase the protection provided by WD.

So no reason to post your usual fear mongering nonsense.
A forum are meant to help people - the opposite of spreading worries!

Of course but during how many years or months the bug has been present?

When you applied the PUP/PUA "tweak," did you use the .reg file in the linked tutorial? Or did you use PowerShell?

Yes, OK. Too bad this "feature" is a bit....obfuscated. More people should find out about it.

Try AMTSO PUA test, in my machine the PUP/PUA "tweak" did nothing, it was necessary to use PowerShell.

It did nothing here, PowerShell or not.

Never mind me, I'm dumb. I was downloading the wrong file.
