I see 1.9 is now stable.

What do you mean with heavy, I'm guessing RAM usage? Because that is indeed a problem, I sometimes have 50 tabs open in Opera 12 and Firefox, I wonder if Chromium based browsers could handle that. But I'm also getting a bit tired of FF, it's so sluggish and Flash almost never works. When it comes to options, Vivaldi beats Opera in my view. But much of my excitement has come from the fixed bug in the bookmarks manager, which made it unusable for me.

But Vivaldi has got a couple of issues. Loading of new tabs must become more smooth, it's getting on my nerves. I also noticed that I can't login to RTLX (Dutch TV network), and the Video DownloadHelper extension doesn't work, perhaps you can test it, see link. There are also some problems related to Chromium/Blink. For example, on some sites fonts are too blurry, like on Yahoo Finance. There is also no way to make HTML5 video click to play.

I think I might give it a try because Google Search feels bloated, they have ruined what made it great, namely being fast and light.

I like it, but I wouldn't say it was better than Start Page or DDG.

Well, it keeps getting better, I just discovered that the small lag when opening new tabs, disappears when you disable the sandbox. Now I'm even more excited.

I checked out a couple of the other search engines and they all feel a bit bloated. I prefer old-skool Google, you can still use it when you turn off JavaScript, the problem is that Google Maps will then also not work. Another problem that this workaround does not work in Chromium based browsers. It's really sad that they can't make fast search engines anymore.

    Exactly.
As I said, my experience is that Opera handles Chromium engine better.
Yes, naturally, because they aim on completely different group of users. Vivaldi is geek's toy whereas Opera is for masses.

I'm pretty sure there is a non-JS DDG & Start Page version.

I have done a bit of playing and you were right, Vivaldi does use way too much RAM, but Opera is hardly doing better. That's one of the reasons why I think Chromium based and multi-process browsers suck. But Opera and Chrome are totally unusable for me because of missing features. So it seems I will continue to use a combo of Opera 12, Firefox and Vivaldi, all for specific sites, pretty sad.

And where can I find them? Google has got one, but the problem is you can't disable scripts per site in Chromium based browsers, and uBlock will break the correct display of "old skool" Google.

Those links were to non-JS versions of the search engines.

LOL, my bad. Do you guys perhaps also know which command is needed to make Vivaldi search via these non-JS versions? I'm a noob when it comes to this. BTW, I'm currently using the Disable HTML5 Autoplay extension, but it won't work on all sites, see second link. Also, it's very annoying that you can't exclude certain sites like YouTube. I guess this should be fixed in Chromium.

You have to add a search engine and set it as a default, or you can use "Nicknames" to switch between different search-engines.
"Vivaldi's menu: Tools > Settings > Search > Add New Search Engine"
After setting the HTML-version as the default and entering HIPS in the url-bar, it will be searching for it with the HTML-version: "https://duckduckgo.com/html/?q=HIPS"
If you enter "d1 HIPS" it is searching with the normal version, with "d3 HIPS" it is searching with the Lite-Version of DuckDuckGo.

Thanks, I will take them for a test-drive, hopefully the search results will be just as good as Google's. BTW, I've noticed that I sometimes get popups that I don't get with Firefox, I wonder how good Vivaldi's popup blocker is. And uBlock also couldn't stop them. I will now block third party frames, to see if it helps.

He set it up in properties - you can set the browser to "no sandbox' if it doesn't boot with sandbox enabled.

    I am loving Vivaldi.
I find it to be very quick.

I am running Vivaldi Snapshots as I couldn't wait for some of the features to go mainstream.

Yes, you can't beat the speed of the Blink browser engine. I also noticed that when you save files like pictures and videos, it automatically renames files in case of identical file-names, wish Opera 12 and Firefox had something like this, would have saved me so much time.

Make a Vivaldi shortcut with this as target:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vivaldi\Application\vivaldi.exe" --no-sandbox
