I am thinking about buying Intego Mac Security because I like the firewall, and what I have read says VirusBarrier does well blocking Mac malware. Anyone have experience with it? Windows malware isn't the main concern on a Mac, but still want it to stop it.
Do you use Boot Camp, and or share files ? A few years back i used to use VirusBarrier X6 that gave the user a lot of control over the firewall. http://assets.intego.com/sites/default/files/virusbarrierx6_usermanual.pdf Intego Mac Security is now up version 9, but here is a blog that compares Mac firewall to X8 (previous version). https://www.intego.com/mac-security-blog/intego-netbarrier-x8-compared-to-osx-yosemite-firewall/ Seen your other thread here : https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/just-got-a-macbook-air-firewall-question.392069/ Is this the router or the firewall on your Mac ? http://osxdaily.com/2015/11/18/enable-stealth-mode-mac-os-x-firewall/ ------- Personally at the moment I'm using Avast for Mac (El Capatain) which is free and "Enable Stealth Mode" with the Mac Firewall on. I think Avast for Mac also removes Windows malware. I maybe corrected if I'm wrong. https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB69 Regards
Don't use Boot Camp. Only share files on the local network. I believe it is the router, which maybe I could change the setting on. Have to look into it. My main concern is detection. Would Avast be safer? Thanks for your post!
Thanks! I wonder if the Windows detection is a little TOO low. I use safe practices, but I do have Windows computers on the home network.
