Hi Firecat, you can find the information about offline and online detection in the report as well, so that is covered and you are still being informed about that.
Regarding the users who wrote about DownloadInsight etc.: please read the report (and look at the FP details) before claiming how the FPs occured.

they will always find a reason :

    1- MS paid them...
    2- MS cheated...
3- MS hacked their computers and put their own samples instead to win...
4- MS is NSA and they coerce AV-C to give good results so win7 users will upgrade to Win10...
5- We are in the Matrix and MS is the Architect so they redesigned the test to fit their need...

Haters are stupid, they will always find stupid reasons to disbelieve.

I dont put much importance to tests labs because i don't agree with their methodology, far from real world usage, just extrapolations...but that just me :D

This test was done on Win 10 x64 Pro. Feel that is inappropriate for a consumer AV test since most non-business Win 10 users are using the Home versions of Win 10.

What difference could it have made on a Windows 10 Home? There is no difference in Windows Defender function in Windows 10 Home/Pro AFAIK.

There is one: Windows Defender ATP (ATP for Advanced Threats Persistence), but you have to subscribe to the service. it was not used afaik. Except that the only differences are GP and Applocker (which are not used for obvious reasons) , about WD itself , the signatures are the same on both versions.

    Windows Defender ATP

    Panda? No. MS? Yes.

As I had claimed earlier, McAfee's new "LAM" has lower offline detection rate than it's old engine. Renders it useless in some environments.

Win 10 Pro+ versions allow for Group and Software Restriction Policies to be applied. Even if only default policies were employed on the A-VC test rig, they would be stronger than anything available on the Win 10 Home versions.

This is irrelevant as long as normal consumer usage situation is concerned. Most home users won't bother, or won't even know, SRP or AppLocker. When people talk about Windows Defender, no one will really think about SRP or group restriction.

Why not panda. It's scoring very good. Its no bloat free AV. Extremely light. Almost same as WSA, which is a paid software.
For my latest low-power machine (which is on 120 GB SSD) there is no better option than panda. In contrast, other AV take whopping 1 GB space ( not that space is major constraint for everyone).

Not a big fan of cloud-based AVs in general. Though, for your conditions, where space and memory is limited and connectivity is always-on, it would make good sense to run a cloud AV like Panda.
