I see no reason to upgrade since I do full backups. Will keep using 6 until I can't anymore

Make sure you update to Build 2128... a lot of stuff has been fixed in that area.

"full" is for a FULL backup. "prompt" allows you to select the image type and comment if needed.

    In my case:
MBR with SRP partition and no recovery partition: nothing changed after the upgrade.
Edit: Something changed. The WinRE was in the OS partition, now is in the SRP.
GPT: size of the recovery partition slightly increased, OS reduced.

OK, I did update to 2128. I can add -prompt to my saved .xml. I do not see a -prompt showing in the whole v7 PDF manual. :):)

OK, I added -prompt and it did prompt and I added a comment. however, when the actual backup started the screen went away and I had to go to the system tray and click SHOW.

I got this from Nick, but I do not have the option he is talking about.

When you run Reflect from a Desktop shortcut it runs in 'Batch Mode', this means that it starts minimised in the notification area of the TakBar. You can enable a backup start dialog to indicate that a backup is about to start in the Reflect defaults. 'Other Tasks' > 'Edit Defaults' > 'Advanced' > 'Advanced Backup Options' > 'Display backup notification..'

It is there and ticked in my v 6.3.1745 with a default delay value of 20 seconds. Maybe it's gone in v7?

No, it's still here in v.7:

That option is not what you're looking for... that's for a warning notice only, not an operational window.

Correct. I do have it in V7, but as you said, it is not what I wanted. I just want the .xml to not start as hidden. Nick just responded and said that the shortcut runs in batch mode. That is why it just goes to the tray.

I updated Macrium (within Version 6) and also redid the rescue media. Recovery Boot Menu and CD work fine but the USB stick does not. Can someone please clarify if you have a working USB rescue media and need to update this, do you need to do any prep work on that stick or can you just override. I suspect an override will be fine as this was my previous experience. Could todays failure be due to the fact that the original rescue stick was for a different windows system (64 bit), so the override from today's pc (32bit) did only replace certain things but did not recreate everything that is necessary? How would I deal with that? Do I need to reformat and then go through the initial prep work for USB sticks or is there an easier way?

Done all that. Still having the same issue.

Can manually run the backups, but not from the scheduled task list. The Run command is there, I can click it, the Macrium screen flickers briefly and does nothing. Doesn't log a failed backup or anything.

You can only reformat without going through prep procedure and recreate rescue media. I've done it his way and had no problems so far.

It looks like the bug with Avast has been resolved. To my surprise my scheduled backup started on time on one machine, but had an error on another. I've found that for some reason after updating Windows 10 to Creators Update my external HDD's drive letter changed from F to D. Once I corrected that the backup ran successfully on my other machine too.

Avast + Macrium (free version) = :) Krusty again.

Today I got clicked on update and got a screen showing an upgrade from Feb 24th to upgrade from V6 to V7. Last time I checked my Lic key I did not qualify for a free upgrade. Wondering what is going on. Not sure if I should click download or not.

EDIT: Turns out it was just a build patch for version 6.

Paulderdash, your CU may have resisized your Windows partition (it's been happening on many System configs) while creating yet another RECOVERY partition needed for the upgrade (and leaving the old one behind)... this will cause Reflect to restart its backup chains.

    Looks like it. o_O

In my case, restarting the backup chains had the effect of losing quite a few backups.

Why the heck your update didn't use your existing 1gB RECOVERY partition to do its upgrade into rather than create a new, smaller, 800+mB RECOVERY partition to do its upgrade is beyond me.

When doing MAJOR Feature Upgrades in W10, there is no rhyme, reason or logic associated with the process... that's the reason I've never left W7, it's very predictable :)

Are we saying here we can not use our version of 6 to create a full back up on USB, which is what I have always done?

No it's about creating rescue media and error code 2 described here: http://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50210.aspx
I usually have to make those steps only first time if flash drive is not prepared. After that all I do is reformat when creating new rescue media (e.g. after Macrium Reflect update).
