So it was irrelevant to my example. Cool. Glad you understand that. Also, if the brand was killed, the customers left. For something else. Because the brand was killed. So... Yeah.
i.e.: Version 17.1.2286 (Build 17.1.3394.46 ) There is a thread with changelogs for version updates only (Version 17.1.2286) https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=183543.0 and nothing for build micro updates (Build 17.1.3394.46) -------------------- Build 17.2.3419.00 to 17.2.3419.59 https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=198632.0
Hi all avast! Free Antivirus 17.3.2289 Beta https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=198924.0 With best Regards Mops21
Let's say I've avast free with only "file system shield" and "Scan for PUPs" enabled, is that on par (security wise) with the default settings of Windows Defender or do i need to enable more components (example Behavior shield) to make it comparable to WD.

The most interesting thing is: "The most popular memory size is 4 GB of RAM followed by 2 GB." People are always preaching that ram usage doesn't matter, that everyone has 8-16gb of ram, etc... I guess that is not the case.
I don't know where they're getting that data from. The only computers I still occasionally come across with less than 4 GB are running XP or Vista and they are typically around ten years old. They are rare and fading fast, at least in the U.S.
If you have 4GB of RAM, I stand by my statment that RAM usage from an antivirus doesn't matter. In my opinion 4GB of RAM is plenty for the average user.
The times most people are on desktop PC's are long gone, so it the possibility to add more than 8 GB, and in a substantial number the option to have even more than 4GB, except perhaps when you buy a new laptop every year of your life, most people aren't able to do that, or have more important things to spend their money on. Taken into account the mem usage of todays browsers, especially when your watching some Youtube or have facebook open, and there's some vendor specific crapware running constantly, there's little room left to play with, and an out-of-memory popup or a sudden browser crash is becoming quite common again these days. I've been forced to dump BitDefender Free for that reason, it became either being "protected" or being able to browse the internet.
I used BDIS Emsisoft and McAfee all licensed and all of them used a lot of memory on my laptop. It is a Dell i5 4g ram and is not considered old . Nowe I am using Avast IS and memoryou doesn't go beyond 1.73 g when browsing while all three went beyond 2.80 or even 3 g when browsing especially in Chrome. For now Avast is a keeper
Like this person, scheduled scans complete but the pop up shows the scan was cancelled at 99%. https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=199739.0
