The threats blocked count only increases when an actual threat has been detected by the blacklist or VoodooAi, which has been blocked. I think it is completely unacceptable when security software blocks an item that is not a threat (typically because they do not know if it is a threat or not), and calls it suspicious or a calls it a threat. Scare tactics are not cool with me... so the threats blocked count only increases when an actual possible threat is detected and blocked.

Hopefully I answered everyone's questions, but if I missed anything, please let me know... I just do not want to repeat something over and over again. It would be wise to put an end to this particular conversation asap.

But that will NEVER happen since once the other methods are implemented, the user will not be able to kill VS in the task manager. Which is exactly why we have to refine the lock down method first.

The lock down method for self protection may never be implemented at all (it depends on a lot of things)... but either way, it will be nice to have a lock down feature.

    Here is 3.56 beta!

There was only one beta tester that was still having issues with the new lock down self-protection method, but him and I worked on it together in the background, and I think it is working 100%.

Assuming that it is working 100% for everyone, it only took 11 days to implement, so that wasn’t so bad now, was it? The really cool thing is that we now have a total lock down mode, that only allows processes that are absolutely vital to properly close your apps and shutdown / restart Windows… which I am sure there are other uses for. BTW, for now, the program files folders are also allowed… we can play with this later… long story.

If by chance your computer is acting funny, especially on reboot / logging off / switching user, etc., please send me your DeveloperServiceLog.log and it will be an easy fix.

Either way, if you are running a mission critical machine, I would skip this version for at least a few days, until we know how well it is running for everyone.

Also, Kees requested that we add a feature that automatically allows a new item, if the digital signature is in VS’s tiny, customized whitelist. We could never get away with doing this if the entire drive was whitelisted, but since VS has a tiny, customized whitelist, it should be perfectly safe. And Kees was correct… as far as I can tell, this adds a whole new level of usability to VS, from what I have seen the last day or so that I have been using this feature… Thank you Kees for the suggestion. You can find the new (updated) setting in Settings / Basic… it is called “Automatically allow items that match a digital signature in the whitelist snapshot”. That description will work, but if you guys can think of a better way to describe this feature, please let me know and I will change it.

Also, there was a small bug in the blacklist scan, which is now fixed. Basically, if the file that is being analyzed was already part of the VoodooAi cloud database, there was a bug, and VS would think that it was an unknown file. So if you guys have seen a lot of “Unknown Files” for the blacklist scan, it is fixed now.

Have a great weekend, thank you guys for your help!

Been checking and rechecking for the past couple of hours, issues I had from previous releases seem resolved.

    Hi Dan

Also installing now on both 64 & 32 bit systems. Will advise if I come across anything strange or untowards.

Have a great weekend yourself. :thumb:

Yea, but the more interesting why is yours using so much CPU? I never see anything above what I see 0.4% or less on the VoodooShield App process only.

    VoodooShield APP: 14.9%
    VoodooShield Service 2.0%

Hmmm, interesting. Is this only in Always ON mode? What happens if you restart VS or your computer? I can add some logging and it will tell us where the issue is. Alex probably has already fixed this in the new optimized gui, which will be ready soon. Thank you!

    Hey Dan,

Email sent. Also, I've had my wireless keyboard and mouse playing up this arvo'. They sometimes aren't responsive. I don't know if VS could cause that or not?

    Hi Dan

No worries...I always run VS in Always On mode...though I do occassionally swith to Smart mode...but I prefer the granularity of control afforded by the former.

Have checked out the auto protection and that seems to work as advertised.

    Regards, Baldrick

PS. Have a great and restful weekend.:):)

Not really, Daniel...that was a momentary blip...here is a more typical reading...also in Always On mode...last time I was only really looking at the RAM usage. ;)

PS. Whilst CPU usage is more normal the RAM usage is even lower.
