Is anyone using BD Premium on there android? I have a s5 that I'm testing and I DL'ed there 14 day premium trial it's suppose to have real time web browser protection but upon my testing deliberately visiting a pornographic web site I was shocked at the phishing browser attacks I was getting, am I missing something? all web security setting are turned on.
It works only with chrome and default Android browser which is the aosp browser not the Samsung one. Try the same site with chrome and see
Ok the only browser it has is the one that came with it new, Chrome and Android, I just checked and I'm seeing "Samsung internet" in play store that's factory installed.
I tried Chrome and was able to reproduce two phishing attacks(you have 16 viruses click ok to clean)and so on. So clearly there's no protection.
I run Emsisoft IS, Zemana AM Premium; Adguard, HMPA , and Ghostery on my PC, and I landed on one of those pages last week. Had to shut down FF with Task Manager. It happens. Your main concern should be the product's ability to block malware, not some stoopid fake AV scam which was totally obvious. I use Bitdefender Premium on my Android and feel secure with it. But I don't surf the net with it much cuz the screen is too small.
BTW: Wired Online today published the following story. It includes three taped conversations with victims (security researchers) who pretended to fall for the fake virus support scam. It's really sad to listen to them. "Listen to ‘Tech Support’ Scam Calls That Bilk Victims Out of Millions..." https://www.wired.com/2017/03/listen-tech-support-scam-calls-bilk-millions-victims/
I understand but BD has Web surfing protection it should do something, I've been testing this most the day and not one block from BD, nothing. I have ZMS but wanted real time web browser protection, ZMS does not have that. This is a Mobil Android thread not PC hawki
I understand. But you need to understand that not many Security Programs are great at blocking phising attacks across all browses. I would not expect their mobile apps to be much better: http://www.pcmag.com/image_popup/0,1871,iid=506126,00.asp
Well that's a little hard to believe because everyday my bitdefender antivirus Plus snags three or four phishing attempts on my laptop OS so in my opinion bitdefender does relatively well and I would've thought their mobile suite would have done as well.
Have you revisted the phising site -- would be interesting to see if the BD Cloud picked up on it. FWIW: "Bitdefender Mobile Security Review... I deliberately visited a number of known phishing and malicious sites. In every case, the Bitdefender app warned me that the site was unsafe, with a brief description of the specific concern. It gave me two options: the prominent 'Take me back to safety' and, in smaller text, 'I understand the risks, take me there anyway.'... Bottom Line Bitdefender Mobile Security continues to be the most effective malware scanner for Android, with an extremely minimal impact on performance..." http://www.tomsguide.com/us/bitdefender-mobile-security,review-2629.html
I read it's supposed to be pretty effective also, no I didn't visit it with my PC that link you posted above I got a fishing attack from that link on my Android what's up with that. I've got no warning from bitdefender at all no pop-ups
Well to use your words above : "Well that's a little hard to believe..." Nada on my PC. Perhaps there is something on that page that has an Android attack vector. Have you scanned your phone - perhaps there is something on your phone that's loading or redirecting you to these phising pages. You seem to be unusually good bait for these phising attacks.
The same here, I Jumped on my PC and got no attack showing from your link, yea I did a scan with ZMS and BD and nothing was found. This is strange.
I hear what your saying but one shouldn't have to check settings it should be plug and play outa the box for my browsers installed. I was reading hawki's link that he posted "toms guide" and used the link in that guide that he used and I did finally get a hit from BD so I guess it is working just seems odd that it didn't block anything from them porn site attacks.
When you say phishing browser attacks, what exactly do you mean? Pop-ups, ads, clickjacks, etc? How did you conclude that it is truly a phishing attack? The definition of a phishing attack is as follows: "the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers." From what you have mentioned, it does not seem that you are referring to phishing attacks but pop-ups, clickjacks and other browser annoyances including ads, analytics, trackers, etc. Let me give you some facts about BD: -BD is NOT a pop-up/ad/clickjack/etc. blocker.. These are controlled by other browser extensions like uBlock Origin -BD supports Firefox as well. Install uBlock origin for Firefox with suitable filters enabled and you should no longer see the issue -For web protection to work and BD to be on and running always, the "Accessibility" setting for Antivirus should always be set to ON. Needless to say, set BD to Autostart when you restart your phone.
Well for what any definition one may want to use I would think it should do a better job I am going to test some other ad blockers when I get time to see the effectiveness, Yes I know BD is not a pop up blocker. there's no auto start "button" it starts automatically witch is nice Accessibility has been on from the start. Thanks
I switched from Bitdefender Mobile to Avast Mobile Security because AMS will protect more browsers like Dolphin, Samsung, Chrome, Boat Browser, etc.
