Cent Browser is an enhanced version of the Chromium web browser that bundles many useful features, such as scrollable tab bar, mouse gesture, super drag and a lot of tab options. It makes web surfing easier, more comfortable and also more secure 32-bit installer http://static.centbrowser.com/installer_32/centbrowser_2.4.2.19.exe 32-bit Portable http://static.centbrowser.com/installer_32/centbrowser_2.4.2.19_portable.exe 64-bit Installer http://static.centbrowser.com/installer_64/centbrowser_2.4.2.19_x64.exe 64-bit Portable http://static.centbrowser.com/installer_64/centbrowser_2.4.2.19_x64_portable.exe Forum https://www.centbrowser.com/forum/index.php
Will check it out, but the question is how trustworthy they are. Nowadays you can't trust anyone, and the browser is the perfect spying tool as we all know.
@liba Thank you for posting. It comes with PPAPI flash which is handy, because two websites I often visit use flash (flash is only allowed on these two websites) It has a few privacy benefits over normal Chrome, brings back favorites button and old new tab option (without most visited webpages) plus it has a really cool safe start feature (switch --cb-safemode) which blocks loading of external DLL's (and extensions) which I use for on-line banking. In normal browsing mode I use it with only two extensions (Avast Safe browsing and Google Analytics opt-out) for a hassle free (no adblocker wall) web experience while most ads and trackers are blocked by Avast. I always set the following about:flsg options #disable-hyperlink-auditing #enable-permissions-blacklist #extension-content-verification (strict mode) #reduced-referrer-granularity #enable-top-document-isolation #disallow-doc-written-script-loads #enable-framebusting-needs-sameorigin-or-usergesture It auto updates and uses the latest Chromium, I am not worried about update delay and extra possible exploit vulnerability, since I use MemProtect to contain/cage Chrome Regards Kees
Have you checked it for suspicious outbound connections? Nowadays you can not assume it's safe, without doing a bit of research.
Thanks for that Windows_Security! Might I ask if that can also be applicable to Slimjet and Google Chrome? About exploit vulnerability, I do not have MemProtect but does using MBAE Premium safeguard Chrome and other browsers? I have the portable version of Cent here now and it seems okay. I like the downloader of Slimjet portable better.
tested/checked: it's safe... Nowadays you can not assume checked it for suspicious outbound connections? without doing a bit of research
I don't understand what you mean, but how did you test it? I'm sure you have heard about recent stories of "trustful browsers" like Maxthon and Firefox Focus who were both caught spying on users. I recently even noticed Vivaldi making connections to Google and DoubleClick for no good reason.
every browser with a safe-list is contacting google. concerning dblclick its worth to investigate if it is a valid cdn instead - if vivaldi do then other chromium do also. btw firefox isnt spying - who told you that lie? ofc maxthon i can imagine but since i dropped this crappy browser... "telemetrie" is your keyword. at least some features can be deactivated: http://www.ghacks.net/2017/02/12/ghacks-net-firefox-user-js-config-0-11-is-out/ dont ask me, i dont use it. it is also possible to trash profiles.
Its similar to AOL Safe Shield, which is also a Chromium-based browser. Unlike AOL Safe Shield, its available in x64 as well as x86.
Cent looks and behaves nice, nice options. but i dont like a portable to write hashes in registry - epic fail.
The only browser based on Chromium in which you are able to completely get rid of any connection with Google is the Ungoogle Chromium, AFAIK. https://github.com/Eloston/ungoogled-chromium I've been using this version for a couple of weeks and everything is working perfectly. As it is open source, I believe it to be reliable. The only objection is that it is always slightly behind the last stable version (UC is in version 55 (https://github.com/Eloston/ungoogled-chromium/issues/176) and Chromium "stable" is in version 56). But for me this is good, as I use Sandboxie so I avoid compatibility issues.
Thanks for the reply there. MBAE protects chrome.exe it says with the pop-up. MBAE pop-up xttp://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=9488253chrome.png MBAE says that Google Chrome is protected. When I try to add Cent browser in the shields it says it there already. Is that correct or MBAE is reading it wrongly? Kindly see image below. xttp://www.bild.me/bild.php?file=9349782chrome2.png On the about:flags, is this the correct setting? I got confused awhile ago...In the ...it should show "Enable" there correct? xttp://s1.bild.me/bilder/240416/68038682017-03-05_235900.png Thanks so much
@constantine76 Yes MBAE already protects it (Chrome.exe), so you are good In about://flags tweak these settings (which work without problems) #disable-hyperlink-auditing ENABLE #enable-permissions-blacklist ENABLE #extension-content-verification ENFORCE STRICT #reduced-referrer-granularity ENABLE #mark-non-secure-as DISPLAY VERBOSE STATEMENT AND FORM WARNING WHEN PASSWORD OR CREDITCARD DETECTED etc
Cent Browser v2.8.3.58 (August 20, 2017) Website Changelog + Download A russian version of Cent Browser is also available
@mood Thanks for posting. My main laptop is refusing to boot at the moment, but when I get it working I'll update.
Cent automatically updated itself to the new version a few days ago on my laptop. I checked for updates, and it turns out I was already running the new version.
The culprit could be the "Widevine Content Decryption Module". Older versions of it are working but not newer versions (except in Chrome):
