This is the end, beautiful friend!! "Tomorrow, Feb 28, Agnitum is closing its web site, email and this forum." http://www.outpostfirewall.com/forum/showthread.php?28178-Forum-Shutting-Down
So, did I. But, I could never get it work on my XP desktop. Tried contacting the developers, years ago, but still I couldn't get it to work. So, never was useful, for me.
Still have my lifetime license. Used it several years ago. Thanks to Manny Carvalho and Wayne Kroncke for their support over the years on the Outpost forum.
Same here, some websites were blocked for no reason and nobody could give me an answer... But that was more than ten years ago.
It certainly was a good program for me in the years I had it (lifetime license too). I wonder how many Outpost users (licensed) actually took advantage of the offer Agnitum arranged with Kaspersky? I decided against it, myself. Oh well...
Sad to see the forum go. Helped many people for a long time. Fwiw: Still using the free firewall every day here on win xp. Version 2009 ver. 6.5.1 (2725.381.0687) Still available from Filehippo.
I was a very satisfied user of Outpost Pro firewall for many years, with a lifetime license that I used for my XP/sp3 and Win 7 systems without problems. I tried to take advantage of the migration to KIS. Agnitum validated my OP license, and sent me 2 new keys for KIS. I installed KIS, and entered the keys as instructed about one month ago, but they were blocked by Kaspersky. My attempts to resolve this with tickets at both Agnitum and at Kaspersky were rejected. Kaspersky said it was Agnitum's problem, and vice versa. Support from both was non-existent. Too bad. Shame on Agnitum (Yandex) and Kaspersky.
I received 2 keys for KIS last year when I was first notified by Agnitum I saved them till December when my current license for KIS expired and had no problem activating them I have 295 days remaining on one i am using the other to be activated after the current license expires.
Outpost Firewall Pro 9.3 will be in use until at least April 2023. I will be using Windows 8.1 until then and the Outpost lifetime licence was a good investment. Also have two Windows 7 64bit systems with OPFW 9.3 humming quietly away. On Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, Outpost works great with Avast Free, presently at version 17.2.2288. I still keep an ancient XP system going with Outpost Firewall Pro 9.3 and Panda freeAntivirus 18.0.0 plus Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit (present XP installation dates from 2006 and PC dates from 2002). It's like driving a classic car. I have yet to suffer a malware event or the effects of one. Needless to say, I DO NOT DO ONLINE BANKING ON XP! I also find Outpost Free 2009 useful on two old XP laptops. Blessed be the Agnitum developer who, at my request, ensured that Outpost Firewall 9.3 would run on pre-SSE2 processors. Blessed also be Panda Security whose free antivirus can also run on pre-SSE2 processors and which works so well with Outpost on Windows XP. Outpost Firewall lives on and on and on and ..... on
Activation of Outpost for lifetime licence holders: the (now vanished) server plays no part in the process. It is purely an offline thing. Whether anyone polices over-use of licenses I do not know. I block acs.exe and op_mon.exe from internet access, just in case of a silver bullet.
Manny, if you are reading this, life at the pavilion is swinging. All who have their tea and cakes there are rabid Outpost Firewall enthusiasts. It's an obligatory condition for being allowed to attend.
Nice block idea, Hake. I noticed that even though I've had improvenet disabled forever, and even though Agnitum servers are no more, ACS still connects someplace. I'll block it too. I miss the forum and the wealth of knowledge that is now burried, and I miss Manny Carvalho's friendly advice and Wayne's too.
Yes, so sad. Such a really awesome piece of software. I wonder what REALLY happened. Another thanks to Manny and Wayne. Also a thank you to Paranoid2000. I have often wondered whatever happened to him. The times they are a changing.
What a pity, been a user for years and fairly regular forum poster/visitor. Did they HAVE to shut down the forums as well? I'm sad that I missed these last posts including the announcement linked here, is there a mirror or some sort of backup? Damn you, Yandex. A salute from Voldicon to all the friends from the forum and of course a big thanks to Manny Carvalho, Wayne Kroncke and many others for their help and knowledge.
