If I need to post this somewhere else, please let me know or feel free to move it to the correct forum.

I've had a subscription to Office 365 for a while. It's under my username/account for my msn account. The Office 365 license just expired. My license was apparently a personal account.

My wife, who works at a Community College and is/was a student, has a student edition license for Office 365. Under that account/license, she's able to install Office 365 on 2 devices. She only needs it on her laptop.

My question is whether I can legally use her second license or activation? With that said, I can log into her Microsoft/Office 365 account on my machine and I can click on "install now". But, since I already have Office 365 installed, I'm not sure what that might do.

Or, when I open up Outlook (or Word or Excel), I get the following window:

    Outlook expired license.jpg

Can I or should I click on the "Add this computer to an active account"?

You can legally user her second account. She is entitled to install it on 2 machines, doesnt matter what 2 machines.

You will need to uninstall the current version on your machine, login as her and reinstall the office.

Can you please explain why I need to uninstall the current version first?

Office 365 installers have a unique code on the end of the installer that tells it to tie to a specific Office 365 account. You may be able to get away with doing an online repair of your current installation.
