    Just for the info -

I use Shadow Defender on-demand And during SD use, disable backup schedule (if hourly) & keep enabled (if daily & scheduled time will not clash with SD usage time)

Tried Shadow Defender with Todo Backup Workstation - not even used SD & sometime later got BSOD i.e BCD errors & system unbootable
Tried Shadow Defender with FlashBack V2 - used SD And after system restart tried FB backup & it lost its tracking & started fresh i.e select source/destination

Tried Shadow Defender with Veeam - used SD few times And no probs i.e Veeam backup & all normal

    HI Yash

Only problem I see with Veeam is it uses MSSql(sic) and that exposes some vulnerabilities. Not something I want on my system if not necessary

    Hi Peter,

I guess it only uses couple sql related stuffs & not full sql
I am fine with it Coz backup/restore reliability is SOLID Plus no probs with my on-demand use of Shadow Defender (conditions mentioned in my previous posts)

Schedule dont have hourly, 2 hours, etc option...I checked their forum And as per a member, .bat file with Windows task scheduler can be used to achieve hourly, 2 hours, etc backup task
I dont know how to do that...can you help me on this, if I give the info & stuffs related to it?

Yash, I don't have a clue. You don't want to take our recommendation, and that is absolutely fine. But I am not at all familiar with what they do, and unfortunately don't have the time. I am sorry.

    Hi Yash

That's the problem with using an free program. No support. I hope you figure it out.

I would ask Veeam staff to give you specific instructions + the .bat file... because ".bat file with Windows Task Scheduler" is nonsensical.

Actually it makes a lot of sense. You can have that BAT file do a manual INCREMENTAL and the Task Scheduler can schedule that BAT file at any interval you'd like.

...and if you really get slick, you can have the BAT file MOUNT your external storage device just for the imaging operation then unMOUNT it when done (protecting it against RansomeWare if you'd like).

I have edited my previous post i.e replaced "Veeam Staff" with as per a "Member". Rank shows "Veeam Software"...I am not sure Staff or Member/User.

I tried to join the forum But requires business email.

I tried task scheduler as you mentioned at MT & tried manual run & incremental backup was successful.

I tried task scheduler & tried manual run & incremental backup was successful. Task scheduler, you can set hourly or less but no 2, 3, etc hours.

So I should go with task scheduler or .bat file with task scheduler?

Actually you can. If you use the "Repeat Task" function, SELECT the 1-hour option, then EDIT the "1" to whatever # you'd like.
If the imaging program sets up its own Task Scheduler entry and allows you to edit it, you can make the above changes to its direct entry. It it doesn't, you can use the BAT mechanism (and Task Scheduler) to do as you wish.

Veeam dont have task sched entry. I created task & working fine, hourly sched just kicked in & completed successfully. And yes, you can change the hour option.

So what difference would .bat file with task scheduler make?
I mean either way incremental backup task will be the same & work, right? Or advantages to .bat file with task scheduler other than you have mentioned?

As far as the actual imaging operation is concerned, they are the same.

So I think will stick with task scheduler. And I dont know to create .bat file, dont want to trouble you guys further. But if task scheduler gives any prob, will request your help.

Thank You TheRollbackFrog, Lockdown & Peter2150 for your time & support.

I am getting command screen on sched backup start...I have selected "Hidden" on creating task.
Do I have to select "Win 10" in front of "Hidden"? Vista........ was selected by default. Attached is the screenshot

    Yash Khan,

    Remove the tick from Hidden
Configure for Windows 10 (if that is your OS)
Put a tick in Run with highest privileges
If you put a dot in "Run whether user is logged on or not" you will not see the backup run. Select "Run only when user is logged on" if you need to see the backup run.

    Thank You for replying

I just selected "Run whether user is logged on or not" & was asked for password. I provided the password & now task runs without showing the command window...I dont need to see the backup run.

    Regards

    That would be manual, right?

I have set scheduled task to run auto i.e every 2 hours.

It has. I've only used it to make shortcuts but a mate used it to disable Cortana.
