I have a Wilders Forum member request here... Since I'm not a member of the Macrium Reflect v5 Forum (no license), and I see no real mention of the above quoted deal available in that Forum, I would appreciate any Wilders member who also shares Forum membership in the Macrium v5 Forum to please pass on the above information to be considered by current v5 license holders... I would really appreciate it. Thanks you!
There is a giveaway on the other forum. not sure if it is a drawing or what and they are only giving away 10. It is listed as through Feb 6th.
I just purchased and upgraded to v.6 with no problems. Regarding backward compatibility they say [my bolding]: They probably won't break tradition with version 7
Ask, and you shall receive... From Macrium Version 7 will be compatible with images created with all earlier versions of Reflect.
decided to do an image today with 6.3. clicked hide button and can not see the progress when I try reopen the gui. that does not sound good to me. looks like with free version if you click hide it is hidden and no chance to see progress. the gui does not even open.
OK. Made the switch from AX64 Time Machine to Macrium Reflect. Created the Rescue Disk and installed the Boot Manager. Kept the AX64 for a couple weeks then uninstalled its Boot option before uninstalling the program. Today when trying to access the Reflect Boot Option I get an error. Can boot to Windows no problem. Running Windows 7 64bit Home. Unfortunately, I didn't try this boot option until today although Reflect was installed about a month ago. Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might the cause. To fix the problem : 1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer. 2. Choose your language settings, and then click " Next." 3. Click " Repair your computer. " If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Status : 0xc0000000f Info : The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible. Maybe AX64 messed something up when uninstalling? Appreciate help to fix this.
Using Reflect's "Add a BOOT menu option," select "No menu" then OK. This should remove any remnants of Reflect's BOOT menu from the BCD. Now, using the same option, re-add your BOOT menu... all should be fine. I think AX64 hosed you over during its removal.
Thanks so much for speaking up on our behalf. Since I used those same promotion coupons, I do hope I qualify! EDIT: Actually my invoice is 11/24, great!
I got the same message today just out of the blue. Bought Macrium home a couple a days ago and have used it, testing its restore function, without problems until yesterday when i got the above message and also saw that my home edition had switched to free. Unistalled and reinstalled, all fine. Today, it happened again, in the exact same way after some more use of the restore function. Macrium totally crasched 2 Pc`s for me a couple a years ago, some months after v.6 was released - got my money back, so this time is a retry. It has been fine for some days before this but now the EXACT same problems are rising as some years ago when it ended up in useless Pc`s. I am getting more and more convinced that there is something wrong with their restore functionality regardless of what others here have said that have tested it extensively. 3 different Pc`s is no coincidence. No leftovers from other programs or any other funny business since i started with Macrium with an image clean from backup software of any kind. This is worrisome signs for me based on the above experience and it always starts with problems with the Boot menu functionality
On 2nd December, with the help of a representative of Macrium, I managed to install a paid version. [I have posted in this thread about my difficulties, earlier.] He also, helped to setup a schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for updating incrementals. So, far I haven't tried a restore, but I want to try it out, but not sure how it goes. I have been running the schedule task daily at 9.00 am, except for the days I forget to turn my computer on in time to run. I have to plug in the USB stick, prior to the start at 9.00 am, because that is where I store the incrementals.
This is what I have in the Macrium folder in which I store the backups. Not sure how to proceed with testing to see if I can restore an image.
I just tried to restore using the Macrium PE stick in the Surface Book. However, during the restore operation it failed verification. There was a read error, which said 'permission denied'. I don't think imaging [for me] as a backup solution is meant to be. Seems, I will have to be [very] careful when installing new software.
tarnak i have had a few issues with surface book's and restoring images from usb media. not only related to macrium. mine did work fine by adding the recovery option to the boot menu. once restored i then could remove the option if needed.
Do mean in the BIOS? Once in the Surface Book BIOS, you’ll have access to the following pages… PC Information Security Devices Boot Configuration About Exit
no what i mean is macrium has the setting to add a boot option so you can select the pe and boot to it that way. for some reason when trying to restore from usb drives on the surface i do run into weird errors here and there. usually its fine but i have seen this happen before. the drive ended up fine (maybe not in your case i cant see the drive so i can not be sure), you can also try turning off secure boot then boot to the usb then once done turn secure boot back on.
