After extensively testing the CBT feature, and knowing how it worked (during the Beta), I have difficulty in understanding exactly how they could possibly increase the speed of the DIFFERENTIAL image. If this is true (under most circumstances), they have evolved their CBT implementation quite a bit from their Beta work. The INCREMENTAL image is helped quite a bit during periodic images while the System is up But DIFFs... I'll need to learn more about this
As long as you're not using W7 (and prior), automatic viBOOT into Hyper-V should work just fine. You may require a Windows Pro version for this to be successful (W8.1, W10)...
Marc, according to SanyaIV, viBOOT can be used with W7 but its a very manual process (it won't "automatically" work with v7), albeit successful... see HERE.
I'm afraid you might have misunderstood what I meant with my message. I haven't tried viBoot on Windows 7, haven't even had a Windows 7 installation since Windows 8 developer preview was released. Simply wanted to make it clear that one can use viBoot (on Windows 8.1 and above) with Reflect 6 (7 not needed) by using the stand alone application to do the VM setup. V7 of Reflect just makes it more convenient to launch it through the Reflect restore interface. Sorry if I made myself unclear.
Yeah great, I see it is a free upgrade for anyone that bought v6 on 11-26-16 or later. I bought a 4 user license on 11-24.
Uff, that option is set on a day just after Black Friday. They could extend that offer for a day or two, couldn't they?
I have a formal request (last Saturday) into Macrium's SALES DIRECTOR to consider a change to the leading edge of the upgrade window back to 24Nov, the beginning of the Black Friday sales event. He stated he would take up the request with the Sales Team yesterday. No response as of yet.
For those who purchased Reflect licenses during the early 2016 Black Friday period (24-26Nov), I have been assured (as of 20-min ago) by Macrium's Marketing & Brand Mgr that they "will add a few days to the 'grace period' (unofficially) to make sure the Black Friday purchases are included in the free upgrades to v7." Since no mechanism was directly mentioned, I will assume that when you apply for your UPG, once they see your early purchase date, all will go through just "swimmingly." I don't think they will change any of the previous OFFICIAL upgrade window announcements (see above "unofficially") so just make a normal upgrade request. If anyone within the above defined window has a problem with this upgrade request, just PM me and I'll make the Mgr's email response available to you so you may GET WHAT THEY PROMISED
Tested it before but it does not work. Along with all the other top results a Google search gives. Hopeless. If i find any i will post it which i hope anyone else will.
@Rainwalker - the option is actually built into v6.3 (used for Beta testing) but is not available (even to be seen) until the special CBT driver has been installed into your System. Once that's done, the option to use it appears.
On one of my computers (Windows 10 64-Bit), the tray icon has disappeared. If I go into "Settings > Select which icons appear on the Taskbar", Macrium Reflect Disk Imaging and Backup is selected. The only odd thing I noticed is that there is no icon at the left. Only a blue square. Edit 1: I'm about to try resetting the Notification Area icons cache. Edit 2: The icon is now visible in "Settings > Select which icons appear on the Taskbar". I am not sure if the tray icon is back yet as I think I have to run a backup to test that. I will do another backup in a couple of days and test it then.
Not sure whether or not this is already known information, but apparently v7 Home Edition won't be more expensive than before. (source) That made me wonder, if you have a v5 license and you're interested in v7, wouldn't it then be smarter to outright buy v7 instead of upgrading the v5 license to v6? I mean, isn't it the same cost? The difference would be that you have two licenses instead of one, unless I'm mistaken about something? This is the fifth time I've written this comment because apparently if you click the [Link] adding thingie it will no longer listen to backspace as erase character and will instead take it as "heeey lets go back a page and lose all progress, that's okay right?" <_< Just saying.
This from the v5 INFO PAGE: Version 6 was released on 16th February 2015. We are happy to be able to offer an upgrade discount of 40% to 50% (depending on v5 edition owned) for any licenses purchased before this time. You will be able to see your upgrade options by entering your license key or purchase email address on the Upgrade page. If I read this right, v5 users, by purchasing a v6 license now, before the v7 release date, will receive a FREE upgrade to v7. Sounds like a good deal to me for any v5 users on the wall. After the release date for v7, this upgrade path will no longer be available.
Thanks @TheRollbackFrog I received 40% discount offer and will purchase it. I guess that v6 and later v7 can handle backup images from v5 with no problems?
