Depends on what version 7 offers (is that info already public?) and what upgrade prices will be.

I currently have a 4-pack but only use 2 licenses, so I'm not sure how that will turn out for me.

Well, I will certainly be considering it, especcially if the additional functionality mooted to be included is in fact. ;)

I for one am. I've been using the CBT driver for quite a while, and it's awesome. I don't mind paying for it, and I want what they said they putting in 7.1

I have Home Edition 6.3 and interested in installing the CBT driver. I am guessing this is not offered in my version. I'm I correct? If not how do I install it. There is nothing under 'File'.

Where can I catch up on this CBT driver? And what did they promise for 7.1?

It wasn't in any 6 version. Froggie has a beta driver. PM him. I've been running it on all of my machines for several months.

Anything new affecting backup/restore speed in V7 i.e improvements/stuffs with more better safe/reliable backup/restore speed?

Anything new like inbuilt snapshot & restore function i.e to test software, etc & quickly revert back?

The new CBT feature will impact backup speed if you are doing say 1 hour incrementals. My 1hour incrementals average 39 seconds. If you are just doing a 1 day then probably not. From my perspective, I don't how reliablity could be better then 100%. I've even crash tested the restores and they are fine.

Not sure what you mean by an inbuilt snapshot feature. It's already there. I can take an image before an installation, and it may take a minute or so. If I don't like it I can restore in about the same.

I would say your senses are right on. Not sure how he will respond, as that was all about a beta test and clearly that is over

@Rainwalker - For scheduled operations prior to imaging, a COMMENT field is configurable but not easily changeable without modifying the DEFINITION file used by the scheduler (easy enough to do via the Reflect UI). For MANUAL operations using an existing definition, there's a PROMPT mode that allows for commenting prior to the image creation (I use this all the time when manually snapshotting the System prior to "dangerous" changes).

In v6, there's no way to comment an image AFTER it's been created... only before. Haven't heard anything concerning v7 in this area yet.

The official v7 new feature set/changes have not be offered publicly, to my knowledge. You may start hearing about some of them on Macrium's TWITTER feed or their FACEBOOK page as they lead up to its release date on 26Feb2017.

Hm, even Windows 10 (1607) itself seems to mix things up:
    • Right-clicking on I: and selecting "Properties" reports 210 GB used space and 44.9 GB free space (total 255 GB which is correct)
    • Selecting all files and folders in the root of I: and selecting "Properties" reports 185 GB size (and 185 GB size on disk as well)
What can explain the 25 GB difference between 210 GB and 185 GB?

    XIII,

Out of interest can you run the same tests with both these enabled...

Show hidden files, folders and drives
Remove the tick from Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)

That's my preferred configuration for these settings, so see the numbers I posted before...

(those were already with exactly the settings you propose)

    Open Explorer and expand I:
Right click on $RECYCLE.BIN and select Properties
If it say that it contains many files and folders, that accounts for the difference,
so right click again on $RECYCLE.BIN and select Delete
if there's a popup about Desktop.ini, select SKIP to leave it. (if you delete it then you have to reboot to get $REYCLE.BIN back again.)
repeat to check for files and folders counts, s/b 1 file (desktop.ini) and 1 folder

So the hunt begins - on discount coupons that is.

I have searched a lot but only found unvalid coupons so if someone knows where to find some good coupons for V.6, please post the info.
