I suppose that there should be a quarantine "expert mode" available for advanced users. That would allow Avira to be set up one way on grandma's PC, and another way on yours. If you know what you are doing, you can assume responsibility for the quarantine decisions, else you can let Avira run on auto pilot.
Hi @Tinstaafl - As Stefan (Cmhelper) already mentioned: Avira Ideascale is a good place to enter such feature requests (y)
I made two feature requests yesterday. One to have the option to whitelist a file when it's detected by realtime protection, and another to be able to whitelist files from the scan results screen.
Here they are: https://avira.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Add-option-to-whitelist-a-file-when-it-is-detected/258439-26744 https://avira.ideascale.com/a/dtd/A...s-when-restoring-from-quarantine/258436-26744
Funny, I was always assuming that the purpose of your presence here, in addition to sharing information about updates and issues, was to collect the community's ideas and pass them up to your team? Besides, this is not a new technique or anything that we're discussing here. I should think that this requirement would be obvious to a professional AV product manager.
I already have an Avira community login and have posted about this topic in the forum there. This new feedback community requires yet another account registration
How many from the skilled and well informed Wilders users, knew about the avira.ideascale.com? How many from the Avira users have even heard about the avira.ideascale.com? A handful voters is a reliable source? This is an approach that is impossible to work, imo. Just my two cents.
I think that is their way of suggesting this topic should be categorized as a "feature request", and that the product is functioning as designed. Feature requests fall under somebody else's accountability, and can be conveniently left to simmer on the back burner for years. Nobody is held accountable, and nobody gets dinged for job performance. Let the marketing team deal with it. Suggestion did not receive enough votes, ha! Win/win!
Dear @Tinstaafl - Sure we're collecting feedback as we (Stefan Cmhelper and me) are Community Managers and have contact to our dev. dept. But Avira Feedback Community (https://ideascales.avira.com) is the place to put features requests straight and representative. Also note that your request about quarantine issues is already send directly to our responsible developers and product managers a while ago.
I tried to reproduce your described scenario and had a different result. There was just a Avira service host process with increased CPU load for a few seconds during quarantine and recover of the file. Do you changed the actions for the realtime scanner, maybe to repair as first action?
I didn't change the action, and I had up to three Avira scanning processes showing in Task Manager, all using CPU time.
My icons isnt showing in taskbar? is something wrong with Avira? I cant even tell if its on. free version windows 7
1. Perform a "Modify install" = http://www.avira.com/en/support-for-home-knowledgebase-detail/kbid/964 2. Reboot. If problem persists= http://www.avira.com/en/support-for-home-knowledgebase-detail/kbid/1755 ---- If you open the Task Manager, you can see which Avira services are running.
Good suggestion!!!...Its pretty basic on most other AV solutions including MSE!...Doesn't need feedback, just implement it and stop the annoying ignore\quarantine\ignore\quarantine\ignore\quarantine routine.
hey all, I have a different problem, I sometimes, like now, have both icons showing in my systray, both Avira Connect and Avira (free) Antivirus, no scans or updates running, anyone know why this happens? The Antivirus icon will probably go away on reboot, but it is kind of annoying
I would suggest a clean reinstallation and see if issue still persists: https://www.avira.com/en/support-for-business-knowledgebase-detail/kbid/1497
Ironically this was once possible (see prior release) and was confirmed by Avira that a fix would be implemented to restore that capability. Sadly this seems unlikely to happen. Give 360 a look. It offers the Avira engine (as well as BD and its own), and enables the features you have requested. Interestingly, there are relatively recent videos from cruelsister on YT that test popular AV programs (including this one).
I also don't think it will added again. I have tried 360 again recently, and appreciate that you can easily whitelist files.
Nvm i used their reg tool thing and did re-install download and all seems ok !!!!!!!! AVG scanned to slow for me
Follow this worked for me using reg cleaner but in safe mode. https://www.avira.com/en/support-for-business-knowledgebase-detail/kbid/1497
