BTW, can you please send me your DeveloperLog.log from the C:\ProgramData\VoodooShield folder? That will help us get to the bottom of this.

VS hits 80% or more, thereby maxing out my CPU. It comes back down within 15 seconds, but soon as I open another tab in the browser, it goes back up, again.

Makes browsing impractical, when VS is doing this with the CPU.

"Automatically allow all software in program files folder"
Is this a recommended setting? is enable by default are we sure about this? It bypass even voodooAI if the malware is located in program files?

Sorry I forgot about looking at this BTW!!!

I just installed the latest version of Opera on a Windows 8.1 machine, running VS 3.50, and it worked really well.

Are you running the portable version of Opera? Also, can you please send me a link to the Opera that you are using, so we know we are testing the same version?
    What version of Windows?
You might try to start from scratch and delete all of the .dat files in C:\ProgramData\VoodooShield... it would be a good idea to do so anyway.

I will try to think of what else it could be in the meantime. Thank you!

Yeah, it is recommended to keep enabled... it is perfectly safe to do so, it is a windows protected folder (this used to be a very, very common topic of discussion ;)).

Exactly, nothing in this folder is scanned with the blacklist or VoodooAi. Thank you!

I just logged back on my XP desktop, since the Surface Book needs recharging. So, I will have to do that later, because I have to go out later.

P.S. I have just installed VMware Workstation Pro 12.5, earlier today on my Surface Book. Just have to work out how to install the Enterprise version of Windows 10 which I download the iso from Microsoft.

If I work that out, then I can install Opera and VS in a VM, and see if that is better.

I installed 3.50 on first of 3 win7x64. I noticed some issues on this box with 3.49 but seemed very minor. But on the 2d box, 3.49 created nightmares similar or worse to reports already posted here. I had to shutdown 3.49 on that box. Dan has that dev.log. Putting 3.50 on 3d box now, I won't have access to 2d until the morning. Hopefully problems are fixed with 3.50.

Ok....I checked the exe, and it hasn't changed from the one that I installed earlier, today. Also, you advised me to, "to start from scratch and delete all of the .dat files in C:\ProgramData\VoodooShield... it would be a good idea to do so anyway.".

I haven't any idea which ones can be deleleted: VS_ProgramData_01.JPG

Cool, if you do not mind resetting everything... here is what I would do. Uninstall VS, then delete ALL of the files from the screenshot above. Then download and reinstall the new version... I know, you probably do not have to download again, but I want to make absolute sure that we are working with the good version ;).

This really should fix the issue, but if not, please let me know!

I knew how to remove every shred of a program in XP, but with Windows 10, I can't monitor all the places where files may hide.

Do you have your own utility to remove every trace of a VS install?

That really should remove everything... I know sometimes you get the warning after VS is uninstalled that "There are are items that can be manually removed" (or something like that).

Between the files in C:\Program Files\VoodooShield and the files in C:\ProgramData\VoodooShield that really should be all of the files... and the one registry entry (for VS to auto start with Windows) should be removed with the uninstaller as well. The only other thing that I can think of is the registry will create a couple of keys automatically that say "VoodooShield", but they are like temporary keys of some kind... they are nothing to worry about. Oh, and then there is the driver, but it uninstalls with the uninstaller, so you should be good to go! Thank you!

I can confirm after uninstalling VS with REVO Uninstaller Pro that VS uninstalls very cleanly. You might be asked if you want to remove logs, but after that there is only a couple of registry keys not worth worrying about. Restart for good luck and you're done.

Nothing left in C:\Program Files\Voodooshield or C:\ProgramData\VoodooShield . But, I got this. I guess I should ignore, and install VS again. ;)

I think that is a left over from an earlier version because you used not be asked to remove logs.

I didn't think of that, but I have shutdown my Surface Book, and have posted this comment using my XP desktop. ;) So, I will be good to reinstall VS, after I boot up the Surface Book, later on. :)

With latest VS, when I reboot I get a momentary pop-up of a greyed-out icon in the same place the VS icon would be when it is set to show. This hasn't happened with any other versions of VS.

EDIT: It occurs in autopilot mode when the VS icon transitions from red to blue during startup. In smart mode, no colour transition and no momentary pop-up.
