Is Autopilot mode best for average users? I tend to mess up things when tweaking software settings:oops:
I noticed than in Smart (Default) mode, when using Slimjet browser, Skype, corresponding via POP Peeper, VS taskbar icon stay red (OFF). This means I'm not protected?
It turn Blue (ON) when using Cyberfox though.

You probably have to add these to Web Apps in settings. They are not there by default (in mine anyway).

    Paul, thanks.

VS free edition does not give me the options to add apps to Web Apps. So I guess I got to use AutoPilot mode.

I am also having this after upgrading to 3.49. And even a few days later it is flagging up programs allowed yesterday.

I have always found the ON OFF confusing. Blue means on and red off, but in the home when I switch something on I get a red warning light/label, so perhaps it is confusing for a newcomer to accept that the opposite is now the norm.

Red is used here to represent danger which seems fair enough. In Training mode Red and OFF really means OFF and the computer is not protected. My point is that in SMART and ALWAYS ON modes, red does not mean that the computer is unprotected, merely unlocked, much like it is in AutoPilot. Hence I am suggesting not using OFF when in those modes but using instead UNLOCKED or something similar with perhaps a change from red to yellow or orange.

Did VoodooShield already move away from net framework?

  8. Dan,

With "We" do you mean the royal plural or just you and your golden retriever? No kidding. when so many users express their worries, you need to make this simpler. A self explaining intuitive user interface is always better than one that needs training or explanation.

Hey Kees... I mean everyone on Wilders / in the security community and I. Interesting... we Lock might be better than ON. Thank you, I will be back soon.

  10. So three minor changes: Smart on = LOCK, Smart off = AUTO, consequently always on will be renamed to LOCK-down (like AG/ERP) and AUTO-pilot remains the same (AUTO). When you can explain something in a sentence, it should be easy to use also.

Yes thanks at Mister X, but it would take too much time to read all of the posts. So thanks for explaining it one more time in a very clear way. So basically it's pre-execution, do all AI tools work like this? The thing is, you also have tools like Invincea, Cylance and WinPatrol WAR, who all makes use of AI, but it's not always clear if it's behavior based, or based on PE Analysis.

    Thanks.
    I second this.:thumb:

The first two use both, PE Analysis (before it is executed) + Behavioral monitoring. But i'm not sure about WAR

when cylance sees a bad program on your system. you can still see it but is is not accessible unless you log into your online account an allow it to run.
for some reason cruilsister could not test it for what ever reason.

I found what I believe to be a very minor bug.

With VS in Smart Mode Off insert a USB drive, VS toggles to On with USB on the shield. Now insert another drive, either HDD or flash drive. Now eject one of the drives. VS toggles to Off, forgetting that one drive is still connected.

    Cheers.

Again today 3.49 is querying all the programs I allowed yesterday. It does not seem to be remembering what I have allowed. Nothing has changed on the computer since it was running 3.48.

Same here, what is the appropriate action to take here? Uninstall and install again, reset whitelist?

When I upgraded to 3.49 I reset the whitelist and I'm not seeing VS querying much at all.
The only 'problem' I'm getting (already reported) is the log file populating itself at an alarming rate - with the same files over and over.

Nope! That did not work, still blocking signed Panda Global Protection files.

    Minor bug or permanent policy?

Since this morning with each computer start up a nagging screen appears warning of a stopped threat and requesting to upgrade to paid version. No file show up into quarantine nor a denied process show up into the logs. Is this really necessary?
Each time I access VS setting a screen appears asking if I wish to upgrade. I somehow understand that, getting something for free...
Considering that the free version does not offer much as far as customization I rarely have to access setting. Can't complain much.

From memory, I think you should only see a prompt to upgrade on Fridays, hence why your seeing it today (our time). I didn't realise it happens more than once on a Friday though.

    @VoodooShield ?

    Thanks for the info mate.
Being feedling around with and it is happening with each restart. Now telling me it stopped 2 threats but nothing show up into the logs. Once the log showed VS locked a Panda Av process. Whitelisted the same, still nagging screen appears at restart with no file blocked on the log.o_O
