You know... maybe we can just add a "Silent" mode to VS... similar to AutoPilot. We have plenty of time to think about it and kick around some ideas... I am not going to add any new features for 1-2 months, while we make sure all of the bugs are worked out. I am very close to finding that one memory leak... it would not be surprising if we find a couple more... thankfully they are usually very easy to fix.

I don't often refer to the log but it does seem to be logging 'allowed' files a lot more.
    Multiple windows file entries especially,
i.e.since install yesterday conhost.exe has been logged as allowed 100's of times.
Seem to recall before you only saw allowed entries a single time ?

Yes I'm seeing loads of allowed files logged many times as well - including already whitelisted programme files and windows files with multiple occurrences of -- \system32\dllhost.exe and -- \syswow64\dllhost.exe

Other than That 3.49 is running very smoothly.

    3.49 Beta

The popups are kinda 2 popups i.e first you get popup mentioning "digitally signed/not" And in couple secs "safe/unsafe & details" appears.

Standalone VAi would be good. I would like -
    Initial whitelist
VAi options like "Unsafe popups only", "Unsafe & Suspicious popups", etc.
    Vulnerable Processes option "Enable/Disable".

I have at least one previously whitelisted file that gets blocked all the time now with 3.49?
It seems no matter how many times I whitelist it now, it still gets blocked every time it runs, screensaver.

3.49 running ok here. Noticed that it seems to be using a bit less memory then 3.48

    @Mister X

Have almost identical protection only difference is I'm still @ Win7, HMP.A, and I dont use NVT. VS doesn't conflict with any protection I'm using, I set VS(Autopilot) and AG(Locked Down/Hardened)

Thanks for replying. Yes I've been using quite several hours yesterday and today as well and see no detrment or negative effects using both VS (autopilot) and AG (locked down) together.

However I'm reading some previous posts above which mention a standalone product, something like Ai 2.0 or such. I rather to use that solution as I rely on my well know AE (ERP) for such tasks. I want Ai standalone product to watch 'n' stop ransomware in the remote case it could run in my system for any reason.

ERP and VS seem to be getting along here. Appguard is the big question for me as it is such a pain to use

    No pain here whatsoever lol
Guess you are experiencing issues using it alongside VS right?
Otherwise AG is fine as usual, correct?

I would like to know more about the VS version with AI, how does the AI work? Perhaps you have already explained it, but I couldn't find it, this thread is really active. I did use the search option, but still no luck. Is the AI based on behavioral monitoring or on something else?

Nope. Two issues. I do a lot of installing/uninstalling with testing. Constantly having to turn off APpguard. 2nd issue is my music service. It is a click to run install, and it is kicked off by Rundll32 starting a DLL. A lot of work arounds have been suggested, non have worked. So it meant turning off appguard every time. A pain

Thank you for the help Mister X!

Here is a very brief explanation on how Ai works…

You know when you download a file, and you spend a minute or two to check it out to make sure it is legitimate? For example, you might look at the digital signature and the file details / info, to make sure there is no funny business? That is essentially what Ai does, but it is all automatic and it does this for hundreds of features simultaneously, and it all happens pre-execution… which Fabian will tell you is most ideal and safe ;). (Hehehe, just playing Fabian!)

So basically, whenever Ai analyzes a file, it extracts several hundred of these features without executing the file, but since it all happens pre-execution, the post-execution behavior is not monitored. I am by no means against behavior monitoring, and one day VS will probably implement this as well, but if you can stop malicious code pre-execution, you are much better off.

The really cool part about Ai is that when you or I inspect these hundreds of features, we do not have the ability to compare and contrast all of the various features, and how they are interconnected with each other… but Ai is extremely adept at doing so, and basically, it has the ability to spot relationships between the various features that you or I would never notice. Which, by the way, you and I do not have access to most of the features that Ai extracts.

Having said that, Ai on its own is not perfect, and mathematically never will be… but when combined with a great blacklist scanner, this is when things start to get a little interesting. Basically, VS’s blacklist and Ai are a phenomenal combo, what one does not catch, the other will (or should). It would be extremely difficult to find malware that could trick both ;). Thank you!

    Thank you. Great brief expl.

When is expected the Ai standalone product to be released?
How can I call it correctly (and its short name)?

    TIA

Sure, thank you! It will be a little while, at least a month or two.. and I am not even sure what we are going to do, or what we what we are going to call it. It really is difficult to say, because we need to figure out if there will be hardly any difference between the standalone version and VS on AutoPilot. If there is hardly no difference, then there really is not point in having a standalone version. But in the meantime, we can all think about it and figure out what we should do.

you know what they say, if it is free, your data is the profit. Has that been determined with this software? Does it phone home and sell to 3rd parties?

No, we do not collect or use any private data at all. You can always download and fire up Fiddler to verify ;).

We are simply using the same business model that McAfee, AVG, Avast, etc. used that was extremely effective for them... VS is free to the consumer, and our sales come from business users.

Besides, the real goal of VS is to make sure that every web connected device automatically locks when it is at risk... hopefully someone important realizes this. Thank you!
