  2. Sounds like most of it is based on your router and virtualbox. I would advise to use 2 or 3 different vpn companies when chaining.

Well, IVPN and a few others offer two-hop. But yes, I agree that it's better to chain multiple VPNs.

If a double hop is to be created using two different VPN companies, it is nothing but hassle to use more than one company when we have option to use only one company like IVPN. I just thought that the user in Boleh's forum was formulating it using a single VPN company only..

  5. The reason why you want different VPN companies in a chain is to distribute trust.

If you only use one company to chain and they get pwned then your pwned.

How do you avoid conflicts with IP tables (with this setup)?

I use multiple pfSense gateway VMs. But there is https://sourceforge.net/projects/vpnchains/ :) You have complicated iptables rules, which specify which VPN connects through which interface. For example, VPN0 connects via eth0, and creates tun0. Then VPN1 connects via tun0, and creates tun1. Only connections to VPN0 server are allowed on eth0. Only connections to VPN1 server are allowed on tun0. And so on.
