I got the same alert. I have sent in a Request for Website Review and also a Support Ticket /
URL Reputation Change Request. (False Positive)

It looks like the webroot filtering extension is the cause of the alert.

What I was told AMSI is not used at this time and if Webroot finds it to be beneficial they will incorporate in but at this time no it does not use AMSI.

Some cheap shots at Webroot in that article although I have some sympathy for the general issue with Webroot warning about proxy websites. Interestingly though, I have just accessed windscribe.com without any issue and can always access AirVPN.org without a problem. Good to hear that "we are currently working on changing our approach to proxy sites, so consumers can have unlimited access."

Looks like he supports Windscribe https://windscribe.com/ looking at Twitter he doesn't post much. https://twitter.com/yegor Like I said if you want to go to a VPN site just bypass the block and go there. My VPN service is blocked so I don't find it a big deal it's not going to stop me from going there a second time as when you Bypass a website it gets whitelisted locally.

I can't find any appropriate thread in the Malware Problems & News section of Wilders Security to place this question, and I don't feel my question merits a new thread so, as I'm a Webroot user, I've decided to put it here.

Has anyone seen the following message appearing in a bar at the top of their Google search pages:
    • ACCOUNT SECURITY TIP
    • Make sure your recovery info is up-to-date with a 2-minute Security Checkup
with two buttons on the right-hand side of the message, one saying START CHECKUP and the other saying NO THANKS.

I woke up this morning to find this message on two Google search pages on my Windows 7 machine. I have checked my other two devices, using Windows 10 and Windows XP, and neither of them shows this message.

If anyone has seen the message, can you give any indication as to whether you think it is an infection (or a PUA), or a genuine Google message? If the former (infection or PUA), this would be the first time in more than 10 years of using Prevx->Webroot that I have found an infection on any of my machines. If the latter (a genuine message from Google), it is imho badly designed by Google as the way it presents itself naturally invites suspicion.

Any feedback on this would be most welcome.

By the way, I googled the above Account Security Tip message and found nothing matching the exact above text, but I did find this page: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/VmrAyQuYY7E . After making similar Google searches to poster RJ897's in the aforementioned webpage and subsequently, like him, refreshing the tabs presenting the message, they disappeared.

@Muddy3 I see that as well in Firefox and Chrome so it's just Google asking you to check your security settings for your account nothing more.

    HTH,

    Daniel ;)

Glad to hear that, as if the message in the bar at the top of my Google Search pages was really from the same source (Google) as the one you show in your attached image (and not from some shady malware/PUP hacker purporting to be Google), then my infection-free history with Prevx->Webroot continues, very unlike other big-name AV programmes I had previously used. That track history has really wowed me but, between you and me, I'm afraid of saying that too loudly (anything more than a whisper, to be truthful :() for fear of then being accused by some of being a "fanboy".

We do have lively discussions over at Webroot Community forums. I do like that beta testing forum, especially. :thumb::)
