I tried enabling Defender notifications in Task Manager/Startup tab and it came up immediately just one time. After that, back to delay. :'(

Windows Defender has just started warning me that my machine hasn't been scanned, even though it has. I've read suggestions to uncheck WD in CCleaner and that may work, but why has this just started? I could understand if I've been getting this warning for months, but not when I've been cleaning WD with CCleaner for months.

    @Krusty13 :
    I rate CCleaner a PUP.
With default settings it deletes scan history, memory dumps and more..., that is not trash, but needed for diagnostic.

I understand, but those dumps mean nothing to me and if a developer wants them I'll provide them before running CCleaner, but each to their own.

My other machine running WD also started complaining about not having run a scan so I've put Norton back on them.

Maybe you can check if you have all task in Task Scheduler set right.

Microsoft has released a Windows Defender Hub app. Currently it provides a quick link to the Defender interface and security tips / articles. You can download it here. Maybe this app will be expanded when Defender gets a new UI (in the upcoming Creators Update).

Pinning Defender to task bar makes it come up instantly, it's just that tray. Thanks for the Hub links, might find that useful.

The first Insider Fast build (14986) with the new Windows Defender Dashboard has been released. Haven't tested it myself yet, so I'm curious what it does exactly.

How do I setup a scheduled task, to update Windows Defender every two hours?
(Windows update is set to: download and notify)

The task should run silently and hidden, with no window, or popup.
The task should run without UAC prompt, or prompt for password. (UAC is set to default)
The task should run on an administrator account, without a password set.
The task should not wake the computer from sleep.
The task should run immediately, after the computer awakes from sleep

I've tried several times, but a least one of my criterias was not honored.

Has anyone setup a task that does it, and can export it?

The 4 tasks, as in post#258, are there and untouched.

THX, but the couple of sec. can be annoying, while watching a movie

so disable them or modify them to fit your rules, and see if it works.

I will rest my case.Running windows 10 and with all the default security measures and with defender is quite a bit of protection that MS has given to their OS.It isn't easy for a average Joe like me to get infected with all these lines of protection.Yes,I would still recommend using a third party AV instead of defender to be safe. This suggestion varies on how are the user's habits.

Well, the depicted interface is very different, less elderly and quite snazzy. Is that it? lol!

Only the first time, close it and re-open straight away and you'll noticed it's delayed about 10 seconds.
