I know that in the past these forums have shown a lot of interest in our UltimateDefrag product. While things might have been quiet recently we have been actively working on the latest version 5.

We've just commenced beta testing and I want to invite anyone from these forums who would be interesting in beta testing to do so. We are looking for around 500 testers.

You can sign up to receive a beta version here. (The form will be disabled when we reach 500)

    https://app.getresponse.com/site2/disktrixbeta?u=BuMT&webforms_id=8076303

You can get more information on version 5 here:

    http://www.disktrix.com/ultimatedefragversion5.php

Thanks ahead of time for those who will participate in the testing.

    Thanks
    Rob F.

Hi Rob! Your info page states release is due on November 1st. With 500 BETA testers beginning their beat-up of your product on 23October... methinks this might just be a bit of an inadequate time fame for a thorough BETA testing phase, especially with this group :D

I have signed up and will do what I can in such a short period of time. I assume you want a good bit of W10 testing as you move forward, yes?

From the FWIW department... the last time I used your most recent product version, it was on a slightly unusual UEFI-MBR factory platform (HP P2 model). Although it appeared to work as described on the main System partition (W8.1.1), when the System was BOOTed, the BOOT path was toast (I have no idea how that happened). Had to rebuild the BOOT path (I dumped UEFI and re-constructed a Legacy-MBR BOOT path) to get the System to run once again.

You might wanna request some heavy UEFI System testing as you move forward.

OK, a quick try with this beast. Used the DEFAULT settings (treat SSDs like SSDs) with CONSOLIDATE mode. First pass hung at 0% trying to optimize folder placement... waited a long time, no movement.

Second pass... hung at 70% showing I/O in progress FROM and TO the exact same cluster. This went on for about 10-mi so I killed the attempt.

Will report to the BETA portal, won't try my SSD anymore but will try my HDDs.

Looks a li'l funny at this point.

I also need to post a beta report. I installed on my Win 7 HDD. Defrag fine, Off line defrag and the defrag again, and the boot stuff is gone. Even windows repair failed. Good ole macrium

BETA Devs suggested re-running my 1st test above, giving it time to complete its tasks. I did, from the exact same point in time (thanks to imaging) and the exact same hang occurred. I allowed it to continue this time, leading to an eventual crash of the application. During the hang, UD5 was processing a single 6.5mB FileSystem tracking file belonging to a 3rd party FileSystem driver.

Following UD5's crash, restarted the pass, this time leading to a successful completion.

    We're still working on it.

I also heard back from beta developers. I agreed my problem with the offline defrag was a bug

1 month of beta testing for this type of software isn't enough time.

Why was "moved directories close to MFT" removed? That's a great feature!
And time is limited to 5 hours max? There are large disks that could take that long or longer.

New Beta running fine here. The move directories to mft caused some strange things which is why they did that. I may retest.

The move directories to the mft still has some real problems. I will report to them later. For now I'd say don't use it.
