I have an ASUS Republic of Gamers laptop and I cannot get any Linux distribution to find my WiFi.

I am trying live USBs to test and each one acts like there is no WiFi available on it, Windows connected no problem but Linux doesn't seem to find perhaps the drivers or something to have it even connect via flash drive. What should I do?

 

Just confirming you have tried a 14.04.5 Ubuntu live? Some bloatware for other things but they have a large selection of available drivers. Have you searched the Ubuntu forums using your make/model in the search there? I don't run much Ubuntu but I remember lots more drivers than most.

I think you'll have to do some modprobing. Look for Mrk's threads here, you'll find the answer.

 

I think it would help the Wilders community if you name the Distros including version & DE you've tried.

 

You'll need to connect to Ethernet first, let it detect your wifi card - install the driver and reboot.

Wifi should come up and connect upon login - and of course, you'll need to enter and save your info - tick auto connect to always connect.

Then disconnect your Ethernet.

 

Tried the latest versions of Ubuntu, Mint and ZorinOS.

 

Have you checked that Arch wiki site? It contains a bunch of precious info.

If you don't have a Broadcomm or Realtek wifi card, its difficult to get a decent wifi driver for Linux.

 

Looks l ike I have a Broadcomm.
