To everyone who lost money (or time, or data) because of this software - please accept my sincere apologies. Sometimes companies do fail. I personally invested practically all of my savings which was more than $100K into this project, and lost all of that money. At some point in time (a couple of years ago) I lost the control over the company and the software too, so I wasn't even able to contribute to it, or to make any decisions.

I really don't want to have a bad name though, so if any of you bought the V1 of the program and never got it working, please give me a PM with your order number and your email, and I'll do my best to refund you. I can't promise to do that right away as I have no idea how many people will ask for it (and my funds are limited), but I'll do my best to refund in time. Unfortunately I can't offer the same for version 2, as at that point of time I was no longer associated with the project.

Isso I wouldn't dream of asking for my money back. I had a great time with it in the early days and it was worth every penny I paid for the ride.

Good luck in the future and keep in touch, you still have lots of friends here.

I agree with Stapp. And I don't associate the big failure with your name, but those who took over.

You can keep your money (what little you may have :D )... but I'll still tap you for that cup of coffee when I hit the City by the Bay.

Personally, although it was somewhat limited in its early days, I believe v1.4.1.48 (last v1 BETA release) was the best release of the product to date. I still use it on some platforms I continue to support (mainly due to its ease of use for the computer user) to this day.

v1 was a gallant effort... you should be proud, especially as far as support during the BETA phase both here on the Forum and with the product itself. There were a lot of excited people around here... you can tell by the views and replies for the thread itself. If you look at those numbers you will probably find a RECORD as far as this Forum is concerned... that doesn't happen by accident or by delivering a crappy BETA product.

    It was a pleasure, Sir!

Its a shame for all concerned with AX64\FlashBacks' concept and development, people invested life savings and took other financial risks on the venture...We don't know the full story behind the apparent collapse and the effects its had on them...I don't believe any of us who bought AX64/Flashback were scammed or ripped off, its just a unfortunate adventure for all involved.

I've never seen such a generous offer...and that by somebody who lost most, if not all, of his savings...chapeau!
I wish you all the best and hope you'll be able to start another venture that will give you back the money you have lost with this project.

    That's Right!

The money investments lost Isso, as hard a pill to swallow as it might be, hopefully helps steer you to other/another project at some point again that might not only take the sting out of this for you, but actually become a stronger positive than you could ever have imagined.

I know I speak for many here as our sincere wish on that for you.

Words alone doesn't do nearly enough credit of what you deserve and to what you have meant to this community and for that we are extremely thankful for all the efforts and correspondence/assistance you have always poured into trying to meet everyone's expectations even when the odds were stacked against you.

I've been beta testing v1 for 3 years and 9 months now - no issues to report ;)

I must agree with all of the above comments.

Hi Isso, hope you are doing well.

Stapp, Pete, Froggie have already expressed my thoughts.
Sorry to hear that you lost all that money. Hope that you come with a project that'll compensate you in 10 fold.
I enjoyed the ride with V1 (and still use it on a system).

ps1. for me you are one of the very few developers that I respect both as a professional and as a person....
ps2. hope that you won't abandon the wilders community and will still read/write here every now and then...

Nice to see you around again Isso!
You should start a fundraising project and start working on something similar as AX64 ..
Atleast you would be paid for your hard work for sure then.
Thanks to such projects, there are a lot of people working full time on making games and apps..
    I'm sure you'd find some donators.. ;)

    Dear users,

We do sincerely apologize for the lack of updates.

First and foremost, we are still in business.

Our users deserve an explanation of the lack of updates and where we are going next.

    Where we are at now:

We are a very modest team who have to make ends meets, running other jobs and often FlashBack taking a back seat. We have poured thousands of hours and hundreds of thousands of our own money into this project.

None of the team wish to abandon the project, although often we do for periods of time to bring food to the table. But at our roots, we've gone through thick and thin (even before AX64) to produce a product we really believed in - and total abandonment is something hope to avoid. Our lack of appearance on forums and support channels is inexcusable. And if we want to continue, this mode of operation it is not sustainable.

    Going forward:

    Interim period:

As stated above, this method of operation is not sustainable. Users are upset, some users are responded to quickly, others slowly. This inconsistent service is something we've gained a reputation for and it must change or indeed, we must shut down.

As an immediate measure, we welcome all users with pending questions to contact us at info@ax64.com. We will do our best to respond to you quickly and answer your questions. If your program isn't working and we cannot resolve your issue, of course, we are happy to issue a full refund.

    Transition period:

We are in negotiation with a number of different parties who empathize and understand FlashBack and its difficult journey. If negotiations go smoothly, FlashBack will be reinvigorated with a more stable team and be able to support its users like it used to many years ago.

We truly hope negotiations go smoothly and we can support our users as they ought to be.

    Closing Comments:

The journey of FlashBack or as others know it, AX64 - has endured so much. We'd love to sit down with our users and just share everything like close friends. There's a lot that goes behind the scenes that we cannot disclose. This is a saga that spans time well before AX64 - there has been been deception, betrayals as well as big dreams, great people and of course a supportive (albeit dissapointed) user base. Despite the downs, we are more thankful for the ups.

We understand people are upset, angry and very little of what we can say can appease that. In short, in this interim - we will support you, refund you and with some luck, support you as we did at the birth of AX64.

Happy holidays and thank you all for your patience and support.

    Best regards,

    FlaskBack Team (Formerly AX64)

I contacted them by email almost 2 months ago. I was given the same silly update, so I asked if I could post the update here. They asked me not to, saying they were going to do that. Now finally almost 2 month's later Waj posts this. Waj...why would anyone trust youo_O

Maybe he became active because there were positive reactions to Isso's post and he tried to benefit from it now?

I indeed think it's too late for him to come with a message like this after so many months of total silence, not to mention the fact that they have ignored the users and with a simple message like this you don't regain confidence.

Greetings to Wajamus from Australia! When I last looked, via GOOGLE Street View, at your registered Corporate address in NSW, I saw a "For Rent" sign at the front of the address. I assumed that was meant to make those Corporate coffers last as long as they could :)

Sure, everybody has to eat... that's an important function, but if you're going to offer a product in the digital marketplace, first of all, it has to WORK and work RELIABLY. In all its incarnations (WE#1=RealCopy, WE#2=AX64 Time Machine, WE#3=Time Machine v2/FlashBack, WE#4=<yet to be announced> ) that has not been the case. Since it hasn't been the case, the development effort has to take the brunt of the criticism... that's where bugs are fixed. Your v1 & v2 BETA efforts were massive, and judging by the feedback this Forum has provided you (most replies, most views ever on Wilders), those reliability issues should have been addressed. If lack of addressing reliability issues was due to hungry developers, then your Corporate structure must take the Developer's criticism by users upon its own back. Apparently as a company your project planning and company funding either were not set up right or did not meet its internal goals... either or both providing for lack of funds and hungry developers. Yep, it's time to sit down and look at this whole thing a bit more seriously than just a "kewl project" that's fun for BFFs to work on.
    <Jeeeesh...> Here we go again...

This must be the WE#4 mentioned above. Yet another team of "hungry developers," hopefully better capitalized than your group. Personally, I would like to see this product succeed, but based on the circuitous route "FlashBack" (or whatever it may be called by WE#4) has taken to date, I will remain a bit distant.

Not to jerk your chain or anything (it's important to know your marketing world) but personally, I have moved on to the Macrium Reflect product which has taken the AX64 Time Machine concept and moved it well beyond anything your product planning has even considered. Sure it's almost twice the price, but it's also 50-times more reliable... and reliability is the absolute most important aspect of any imaging effort. If FlashBack is to succeed in this marketplace, that should be your initial goal in your project planning... I wish you all the best.

Now back to the WE#4 for a moment. This sounds like yet another developer group from yet another organization, or a possible a full-time parent for the "hungries" you currently carry on staff. Please let them know that the "nirvana" of this product's support came between January 18, 2013 when ISSO first appeared offering us a chance to assist him in the development of this product, and when he announced that the effort was now being managed by another "dedicated" team. If you want (or feel you may need) that kind of support from a group like this again, you have to be willing to be responsive to our needs as well. Remember, our needs are what allows your needs to be met.
From "the birth of AX64"... that is what's needed for you to even have a shot of anything near success with this effort.

Thanks for FINALLY stopping by... hope everybody's had a chance to be well fed!

So wajamus, what you have to say about FB V2 compatibility/stability on Win 10 Anniversary Build & future Win 10 builds?

Thanks Stode and Patrick, I'm really touched by your kind words. And thanks for the fundraising idea, but I think this type of project isn't that suitable for crowdfunding...

I'm also surprised to see an update from wajamus, good to hear that the project is not dead.

    Hi Isso

In the past we have corresponded quite a lot and I share the views about you as the majority/all do. It is just a pity that events turned out the way they did. By the way did you NOT expect an update from Wajamus?

Can I ask you a question? Is Wajamus Peter Vesic?

    Thank you

    Hi The RollbackFrog

Why not, some people might feel aggrieved at your comment. Particularly those who have spent money?

Or those who simply want freedom of speech!

    Hi Terry

Froggie's point is well taken. Might just remind that while I totally endorse freedom of speech, that on this forum and actually most forums that freedom is restricted to a degree by the Terms of Service that you agree to by joining. There is nothing in what receive when we by products on line that gives us the right to know the developers name and less they chose to give it to us.

    Pete
