Without tech industry guidance, U.S. may resort to weakening encryption

    I would be shocked if governments do not have operatives planted within US technology companies with the goal of inserting backdoors in their products. This is technically the easiest way to achieve what the government wants. Humans are the weakest link in any privacy discussion and it would be very difficult for a tech company to protect its internal codebase from the right insider.
    The whole discussion on weakening encryption or allowing access is a smoke screen.
