Exactly, If you want to simply scan the PC and go, portable versions is more than enough. There is no point of having any kind of protection module in it.

 

I've only used the portable version, and have no wish to have the installed version. So, I guess I will have less reason to continue with ZAM, even though I have been there from the beginning and
have a lifetime license.

If you want to use the realtime protection, I don't know why you want to use the portable version. Maybe it's just me, but for any software I use, I avoid portable versions, and only use them if there is no other choice.

 

As I've said there is no point in using portable version unless you only want to scan and go. Portable version has realtime protection only when you start it and we didn't need this kind of portable version at all and I am glad it is changed now.

It is how it is and it won't be changed. This had to be done.

 

I used to switch ZAM portable sometimes on and sometimes off.
So portable without Pandora means less protection.

 

I agree. I use installed ZAL.

However, in the light of recent events regarding portable version, maybe add "Temporarily disable protection" to the tray icon? Yes, Exit does the same but with this Zemana could add time too (e.g 5min, 15min, 30min etc).

P.S. Further to my ZAM scan detection, yesterday, I checked the file listed in history, and it has extra info which wasn't there before:

ZAM as a security tool from my perspective, has been effectively, neutered.

 

Guys, if you don't agree with something, please do not spam, what you do is just spamming and trolling and nothing is going to be changed about it.

If you don't like the product, do not use it, simple as that. There are a lot of other people satisfied with it and ready to purchase it.

 

Check the RAM usage for your ZAM services.....

 

Who is spamming and trolling? Are you an employee of Zemana? I have been a member of Wilders' for nearly 10 years. I have been a beta tester for many years, so if you want to call it whatever you wish that is your prerogative, but I don't have to accept.

 

The very first ZAM beta testers now are spammers ant trolls. Thank you!

I would think that portable version has no self defense. Also, 200MB RAM usage while being light is least of the problems (if any)...

I can't quite think why would anyone use portable version as realtime protection... Why not install?

and similar is called nothing but spamming/trolling.


If you have opinion then please give us some arguments and something documented and not only your points of view and speculations that only you think is wrong.

I am trying to help people but it seems it isn't working.

 

I must point out, that I have realtime protection disabled, and in advanced options configured ZAM to not launch at system startup.

 

I have been in contact directly with many developers over the years, and your initial response has been the most unhelpful. Just saying.

 

We value your comments but this is getting us nowhere. People started complaining why there is no proper free Zemana version and this had to be done. And I personally think this is a great move to finally separate Portable from Setup version and to make some distinction. For you as a software tester this is maybe not good under some circumstances (that I can think of) but for majority of other people and present/future customers this is a better option because they won't be confused now. Portable Real Time protection is nonsensical for me.

I clean reinstall zemana but it is always the same. It says something about zemana that it isnt in etwrtupm.etl catalog?

 

I agree with the changes. If Zemana offered a free version with all of the Pro version's capabilities, why would anyone pay for Pro?

 

You needed to register the portable version in order to use realtime protection. The difference now, is that you can't register the portable version.

This is not an issue for me as I don't think the portable version really needs to have realtime protection However, what is an issue, is that if you visit the Zemana website, for some time now they have stopped providing a link to the free version (or even mentioning it) on the home page. This makes it appear that there is only a paid version (with a free trial), of Zemana, since they make no mention of the freee version (although you can download from the webpage for Zemana AntiMalware). I understand that they need to make money, but for example, if I visit the websites for Avast or AVG they both provide links to their free versions on the home page.
