    Hi

Does anyone knows the status of v10 now? Is it still beta, RC or out-of-beta waiting for its release?

    Thanks

I've just been on the Comodo forum .
Below is the latest response by one of the Staff members as regards CIS10 (dated Oct 31st this year)
    ===================================
    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the feedbacks, keep them coming. Our aim is to release CIS 10 new version by the end of this year. Before releasing the major version, we will make a beta sequence for sure and get your feedbacks.

    Kind Regards,
    Buket

    Beta sequence, really?

Its been months now & yet only 1 beta CIS 10.

Its the same old with Comodo, 1-2 beta & then a final buggy release.

I agree guest! But this last build seems pretty close to finished as it is pretty efficient. I just hope they put the ribbon back on the GUI advanced view.

What do you mean by last build?
Do you mean the only beta released for testing is good & can be pushed to final with reported fixes & improvements?

I'm going to give a try to the firewall version since I have lost the faith in the AV part. It doesn't look bad,

    "• Unblock Applications

Our new ‘unblock applications’ feature allows you to release application with a single click irrespective of security component that blocked it. This way whether application is blocked by Sandbox, Antivirus or Firewall component, you can manage that blocked list of applications from single interface."

If this works, it would be great, as any other version of the various Comodo programs I've tried have been a mess. You open something like a VPN program, and you get like 4-8 various popups.

So valkyrie won't be on CIS 10?
Regarding the firewall version is basically like the v8

Honestly, I'd rather not have the extra code for Valkyrie running on my machine until Comodos backend is working anyway.

Sorry But what do you mean by "marginal"? AV is still important part of security in today's world. In my opinion,a BB can substituted with right cloud modules like avira has been off late.

All I have seen from Comodo is all hype about DACS and valkyrie being in the product and right even the cloud uploader that's in the product doesn't work at times. Are they planning on making this product a complete Sandbox/HIPS type application or maybe not what they are aiming for.

I really like this product and want to see some actual changes in their product instead of unwanted additions.CIS went downhill after v5.Not to mention they are almost going in the direction in which avast was headed for a while like they worked on alot of things but it never came to play or was never that effective. In the case of CIS I havent seen even a single thing that was implemented as opposed to avast which did implement quite a bit except the broken deepscreen.

    Regards,
    TI

Its not. Anti-executable, Virtualization is the way to go. I use no av at all over a long time and im more secure than with only an av installed.

LOL yes because you have the power to know what is good and what bad and time to click on pop-ups

Sure, its not hard to have some seconds time to click on a popup. And before i run anything i dont know exaclty or i know it is safe i use virustotal and use google to get some info about it.thats pretty much bulletproof with an adblocker and a uptodate browser.

True In the real world situation if the user wants to run the file he/she will click allow anyway....or even just disable the program.Hell!! they do this all the time with normal AV program.Again no protection is fool proof there are ways even to bypass sandbox and HIPS and already the current ransomware programs are finding their way around things. Its been all over the news lately.

    http://blog.cyberbitsolutions.com/anti-vm-and-anti-sandbox-explained/

You can't just leave everything to a program that decided to isolate every unknown file without a stern statement on if the file is dangerous or safe. But I know people are going to argue this fact.I still feel every little feature is the line of defense and shouldn't be ignored for development by the programmers.

I totally agree with you but then the antiexe is useless, it all depends on what you allow to run/execute or not and you do that with your fingers. Besides not all the Malware comes in an executable form

That is totaly true. And only expirience people can use something like that. The normal folk would allow anything and click on allow anyway just to run it.

I know this is a Comodo thread. But I wanted to say something.

Yeah, you guys are right. Anti-executable can't tell whether a file pose a threat or not. And I believe that's the reason why Dan @VoodooShield decided to develop VoodooAI, to help users determine if a executable file is dangerous or not.
