ESET NOD32, Internet Security, Smart Security version 10 have been released. Press Release - 25 Oct 2016 https://www.eset.com/int/about/news...ew-internet-security-products-for-home-users/ What's new in ESET version 10 home products http://support.eset.com/kb3753/ Some links at the ESET forum about the release: NOD32 https://forum.eset.com/topic/9877-eset-nod32-antivirus-version-10-has-been-released/ ESET Internet Security and ESET Smart Security/Premium https://forum.eset.com/topic/9878-e...ecuritypremium-version-10-have-been-released/ PS: We had a previous thread about the beta version of version 10, but since version 10 is now officially released, I thought it better to start a new thread.
I wish they would have released this to the beta testers prior to release. After almost no issues with the beta, I am having my browsers lock up with this version. I uninstalled and the problem went away.
It's been beta tested for several months, also v10 final has been downloaded by thousands of users and no such issues have been reported so far. The best course of action would be contacting customer care or at least making a post in our forum at https://forum.eset.com.
0 issues with it here bro. I uninstalled v9 then run the ESET uninstaller to cleanup any left overs in Safe Mode then installed this v10. super stable
I dumped the Smart Security and reinstalled the Internet Security. It seems ok so far. Maybe it was just a botched install.
I installed yesterday NOD32 (64-bit) version 10.0.369.0 over-the-top of existing version 9.0.402.0 on Win 7 (64-bit). No problem with the upgrade process. Glad the new one kept my own settings of the old one as far as I could see. Running fine so far. Still some remarks: 1. I had to look where the new "script scanner" setting was. Found it in Advanced setup > Web Access Protection > Basic. It was on and I leave it on. Found also the description of it in the Help: "Enable advanced scanning of browser scripts – When enabled, all JavaScript programs executed by internet browsers will be checked by antivirus scanner". 2. Some GUI (or UI, whatever you want to call it) changes are in my humble opinion horrible! For example the Tools > Logfiles changes in the GUI make it difficult for me to read. And I very often look there. Brrrr. I don't like this. (I have bad eyes). It is so difficult for me to read! 3. There are some changes in the "installed components" (modules) that I don't fully understand. Before and after the upgrade (and having updated) I saved the list of installed components to text files and I compared them using Beyond Compare. In case you are interested, here is a screenshot. Left info from 9.0.402.0, right info from 10.0.369.0. 3a. Update module Was: Update module: 1067 (20160630) Now: Update module: 1006 (20160831) Strange, you would think that 1067 is newer than 1006, but not according to the date. 3b. HIPS Support Module Was: HIPS support module: 1250 (20161010) Now: HIPS support module: 1242B (20160819) Why an older module? (PS: no, I don't use pre-release updates) 3c. Two modules are no-more: Real time file system protection. LiveGrid communication. 3d. New module: Script scanner. (well, it was new, so I understand)
I noticed a thread at the Eset forum: https://forum.eset.com/topic/9956-components-versions-in-v10-vs-v9/ Marcos replied: Yes, some of that I'm aware of. It doesn't explain everything though, for example the strange thing in the Update module. BTW I noticed that that module was now updated to Update module: 1007 (20161013). Still strange that there is now version 1007 of that module build on 20161013, while version 1067 was build on 20160630. I don't understand the logic behind it. But who am I? What gives? Just like the GUI changes in logs etc. Changes, oh dear, I'd better not say what I wanted to say. What gives?
Check if you have DCOM enabled in IE11's advanced settings. With that disabled, I was having same issues using ver. 10. I enabled it but disabled its storage setting i.e. webcaches and databases.
The only odd thing I'm seeing in this new version is occasional odd messages from the anti-theft feature, alerts saying someone has logged into the phantom account. I have never logged into the phantom account.
I can't believe there's no quick scan in a premium product. The only options are full and custom scan. Scanning memory takes 1 second and there are no items shown, so I don't think it really scans the memory.
How good good is Eset these days and the new version. I have KIS 2017 on my system but thinking too try ESS 10.
It's never been better and lighter IMO See: http://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php?chart=chart4&year=2016&month=10&sort=1
In Synthetic benchmarks, it scored 99.6%. In real world, all I can tell you is I never EVER had a virus in all the 10+ years I've been using NOD32. With its PUP detections that you can enable easily and its HTTP scanner. I don't even need the Eset Smart Security and its firewall since the HTTP scanner blocks all bad connections automatically without the headaches of a full blown Firewall. the Windows Firewall is all I need in addition to the ESET HTTP Scanner in the AV. give it a try
I like this version. Runs very light But I have one issue. If I change everything to default settings I still get notifications in advanced setup that there are settings which are changed from defaults. I don't know how they are automatically changed from defaults See in the image:
As for HIPS, the list of drivers that are allowed to load is populated by current drivers which makes the list different from default state. As for Personal firewall, known networks and adapters are detected after installation which is why the differences from defaults are indicated.
