It is much easier now, go to "Settings" -> "Apps and Statistics", find the app and uncheck "Enabled" in the app details.
Is that to say that under Firewall the Filter ads toggle is moved to "Apps and Statistics" and the separate Allow toggles for Wi-Fi and mobile remain as is? I would strongly object to having the separate Allow toggles removed or combined. Thanks.
There are no more "Allow toggles" in the "Apps and Statistics". Default firewall permissions are in the "Settings" -> "Firewall" Per-app permissions are on the "Apps and Statistics" -> app details screen.
@avatar: Will the changes in Android 7 mentioned by @TheWindBringeth cause problems for AdGuard? There are concerns they will.
Of course it will. We've already taken care of it in v2.7 though: https://github.com/AdguardTeam/AdguardForAndroid/releases/tag/v2.7.220 Browsers (Chrome in particular) will continue to trust user certificates. Other types of apps won't, so that will make blocking some types of ads problematic. Although, for those apps we will still be able to block ad servers, this covers 95% of ads.
Ah, thanks! I didn't know that v. 2.7 was already released 4 days ago as I hadn't received a notification about the update in v. 2.6.
Subsequent Android versions as well, we'd expect? Can the user easily tell when they are using an app that hasn't opted-in to user-added CAs and the ad blocking for that app will only be based on the host?
Yep. Adguard -> Settings -> Apps & Statistics -> app details view. In the bottom of the app details view there is a block with additional info. "Target SDK: 24" means that app targets Nougat.
Greetings, just installed adguard on my android 6 but when i lock my phone it deactivates protection, why this happens? Any help?
Do you have any other VPN based app? For instance, i've faced such an issue with Opera Max which was revoking Adguard VPN all the time.
No other vpn, it seems I've solved the problem, the app was not protected, so when I locked the phone the app ends, now it doesn't happen anymore, I've protected the app on settings and now is running fine.
Hello @avatar Refer to the latest beta v2.8.40 Is it still necessary to enable the individual filter - English filter, Social media filter, Spyware filter, Mobile ads filter when using the new Adguard DNS filter? Thank you!
You see, DNS filter is optimized for using with DNS-level ad blocking ("filter DNS requests" feature). It is good at blocking ad servers and such, but it is not that good with ad blocking on websites, as it does not contain cosmetic filters at all.
avatar, I won a Adguard Android key from MalwareTips giveaway. Can you please tell me the shelf-life of the giveaway key? Thank You & Adguard Team for the generous giveaway. Regards
You can view the license status by clicking on "Manage License" at the bottom of the Adguard start screen. This will tell you the length on the license. Hopefully your's says that the license is good until the end of time.
I would guess that there may be no limit, but to make sure you could check out here: https://forum.adguard.com/index.php?categories/adguard-for-android.74/
I'm considering purchasing a licence for my tablet. Am I right in guessing this will work to stop all the ads that come with free games? Can it really be that good?
avatar, Its the first time I have installed Adguard in Android. It works good. I see settings, etc... are kinda the same as Adguard Desktop. But I dont see the option "Dont filter EV certs websites", why the option is not there?
