Saw something strange today when I woke my computer from it nights sleep. This is similar to what we used to see in WinAntiRansom. Would see a bunch of Dismhost entries every morning.
They did some kind of fix because it was annoying. Please see screen shot. There were about 8 or 9 of the pop ups. The first two I blocked and the rest I just let the timer count down until they dissaeared on their own. I checked userlog and nothing is listed. Checked white list and nothing is listed there either. Thought if you get a pop up and click accept or block in should be in a log or something.

"think it is fixed, but I will keep an eye on it. Please try it again and let me know if it happens again. I kept the same version number 3.44 since is was such a small fix."

where is the fix build? I used the link from your sig and did not get the new version.

@boredog: I get similar message with opera's auto update with 3.43, but the whitelist entries get added to the command line area for me.
    "c:\windows\temp\opera autoupdate\installer.exe" --version
    "c:\windows\temp\opera autoupdate\cprogram files (x86)opera\ready\launcher.exe" --internalversion
    "c:\windows\temp\opera installer\installer.exe" --version
    "c:\windows\temp\opera autoupdate\cprogram files (x86)opera\installing\installer.exe" --install --silent --autoupdate --installfolder="c:\program files (x86)\opera" --launchopera=0

What was weird is even with these above whitelisted in the command line area the popup would still appear occasionally saying file is "inaccessible or no longer exists".

Havn't used 3.44 long enough yet to see if that helps.

@VoodooShield: haven't had any freezes lately, great job! One tiny thing that could still use a bit of polish, is the context menu popup from the shield when using multiple monitors. The menu opens up on another monitor than that which displays the VS shield.

Iangh, Boredog and MrGump... are you sure you are running the latest version? If not, please download again... I kept the same version number 3.44 this time since it was such a small fix.

If it is still not fixed, please let me know, it will be an easy fix. Thank you!

Ooops... I already know what that is without even looking at the code, it is an easy fix, I will have it fixed in the next version, thank you!

Hey Krusty, yeah, I believe the freeze issue is fixed. This should be an easy fix... I just have to refresh the command lines after they are edited, I will have it fixed in the next version, thank you!

Hmmm, that is odd... I will install nitro reader and find out why that is happening, thank you!

Cool, yeah, I have noticed that too... that might be a little tricky to fix, but I will start thinking of a way. The bad thing is when the monitor on the right is not on so the menu does not appear, no matter how many times you click ;). Thank you!

A while back we planned on having an OSX version, but for now that has been placed on hold. I hope to get that going again sometime soon though. What I want to see is VS on Android and iOS devices... when you are playing Angry Birds, your device is unlocked. When you are checking your email, your device is locked. Since these devices are basically one app at a time, its implementation would be even more seamless and user-friendly then it is on the desktop. The problem is that since both of these OS's have app sandboxing, only the Apple, Google or the cell phone carriers have access to put VS on these devices. Thank you!

I am not sure why your computer slows down... that is extremely odd. I think you like to tweak the settings a lot... is there any difference when running with all default settings? Have you tried to delete all of the files in C:\ProgramData\VoodooShield?

BTW, there are really only 3 hardware items that would cause a slowdown... do you know if it is your CPU, Memory or HDD that is being pegged? I have a feeling that it is some other software on your system that VS is not compatible with. Thank you!

Send me some samples and we will go from there... every time our discussions are based on hypotheticals, they have a tendency to go off track.

BTW... this is simply not true: https://malwaretips.com/threads/should-you-be-worried-about-ransomware.64236/#post-551168

Look at 7:00 into the video: https://vimeo.com/161179833

Not only did VS block the file, but VoodooAi nailed it as well... and not only that, but we already discussed this, starting here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/voodooshield.313706/page-341

You can bash VS all you want, just please make sure it is true. Otherwise, when I have time (soon), I will have to point out a few more inconsistencies. Thank you!

    Nope, I leave everything default

    nope, will try

I have installed it alone in the past and it still lagged. I just tried it on a brand new quad core laptop (Emsisoft AM is the only other security installed) and I can feel the lag, not as bad but I can still feel it. I will monitor my hardware a bit closer but I don't think that's an issue.

    Hi,

    Found something interesting today.

When using FireFox, and VS 343 and I navigate to http://www.amtso.org/feature-settings-check-drive-by-download/ which tests drive by downloads (it downloads the eicar test virus), VS popped up and removed it.

    Then I installed VS 344.

Then I installed Google Chrome and visited the page also. But this time Windows Defender picks it up and removes it. What happened with VS ?

So I reinstalled FireFox to test again. And this time Windows Defender stepped in again. VS 344 was silent.

Disable Windows defender and see if still VS is silent.

I just disabled Windows Defender, and VS is still not picking up eicar.com

What is the clean way of removing VS ? When I went to uninstall it, it says some items are left over. I want to do a clean re-install of 343. (last known working good version)
