@Tyrizian, out of curiosity did you unpin File Explorer from your Start menu?

Edit: Never mind, just found out this can be removed from Settings > Personalisation > Start > Choose which folders appear on Start.

I only asked because I couldn't see how to remove it from Start when right-clicking that item. Seems you have to go a few degrees deeper to find that option.

Debian Jessie 8.6 with Openbox and Quicktile.

Quicktile adds i3wm functionality for two thirds/ half/ quarter/ a third/ half left/ centre two thirds etc window management via keyboard shortcuts

    Dmenu got replaced with Rofi

Mocplayer, Ranger, htop, Audacious, gPodder, OpenVpn, Firejail, Geany text editor, Alsa sound, Onboard virtual keyboard, Thunar, lxappearance, Arandr, tint2, obconf.

Waldorf window manager theme with paper icons

Openbox seems to be the best balance with keyboard and mouse window management. Highly configurable system with themes and extensions all done via editing config files.

    Regards

Hi mantra, thank you.:) The one above my post by TS4H is very interesting combination, the operating system is intriguing. I'll have to take a look at this.

Always searching for a desktop that doesn't bore me after two days. If I use a Windows operating system, let it be my depiction of "windows." Any good (and clean) sources of desktop wallpapers around?:) Wait, what do you think of Windows Spotlight as a resource?

A portent-filled one every time you log in, like that magic eight ball that you shake and your fortune rises to the surface....

Any screenshots of the Creators Build start menu? Here's a variation of the Anniversary Update one:

Creator's update Start Menu is the same as AU, nothing very different in term of design. However there the security center.

Yes, the Security Center looks much more cohesive and modern. Remember that old fashioned green and white box? Good to know the Start Menu hasn't changed much--it's a good feature. Obviously, I haven't read up on the Creators Build--come April 11, "surprise" me.

Edit: Curiosity got the better of me so I installed version 1703. The only thing so far: that irksome little Edge mini tab on Internet Explorer 11. No thank you! Desktop stayed the same.

So far so good. The Security Center is a big improvement and I see the "fresh start" aka "refresh" option in the Windows Defender screen.

Yup. I didn't show it but Classic Shell is installed. T-Clock from White Tiger, update of Stoic Joker's famous T-Clock, for added legibility in reading time/date.
