What's more, look what that EXTREMELY LONG WD "quick(o_O) scan does CONSTANTLY while scanning to my Disk.
Is Microsoft trying to sabotage my computer?

I assume that all antivirus vendors have now their products fully compatible with Windows 10 AU so you are not forced to live with WD. It's possible to turn it off completely. However, if the license for the 3rd party expires and it stops updating, Windows will suggest you uninstalling the 3rd party AV in order to turn on WD.

Try adding exclusion for detected "threat" in WD. It took me almost 10 minutes to finish such a simple action.

    1. Tap on the Windows-key to open the Start Menu.
    2. Type regedit.exe and hit enter.
    3. Confirm the UAC prompt to continue.
    4. Navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender
    5. If you see the preference DisableAntiSpyware on the right double-click on it and set it to 1 to disable Windows Defender.
    6. If the preference does not exist, right-click on Windows Defender and select New > Dword (32-bit) Value, and name it DisableAntiSpyware

    Thank you for your advice.
I've immediately set my preference for "DisableAntiSpyware" to 1. :thumb:

Yes, it's a different thread but the problems of that "benchmarking" AV - Windows Defender - are the same. :argh:

you can even easily get the windows defender uninstall tool from raymond.cc and it will totally remove everything to do with it even the icons and context etc....not sure if i can post a link to it here but a quick google search should bring it up.

I believe it still works in Windows 7 and 8. I'm sure I have used it in either Windows 8 or 10.

Last time I used it on Windows 8, it wasn't able to remove the WD icon from the control panel like it did in 7 as WD is more integrated into the OS in Windows 8. Didn't even dare to try it on 10. I hope it gets updated to see support 10 as well.

I just checked through some old posts, and I have used the tool to remove WD in Windows 10. I doubt I checked Control Panel, but I can confirm that Windows 10 was completely disabled.

works just fine in windows 10. at least for me. no issues at all. set the registry entry as stated previously in this thread and then run the tool and reboot. defender is gone.
