Windows 8.1 and 10 is designed for tablets. Yea you can change GUI to the desktop Interface like Windows 7 has. But who cares about that crappy Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 anyway.

Speaking of old school OSes. Upgrading from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 it was like comparing oranges to apples . Just loved Windows 2000 the best OS back than, before Windows XP came out.

    W7 Ultimate on a back-up machine - a just-in-case system + for some minor testing.

Windows 11 on it's way at the end of this year. http://windowsreport.com/windows-11-upgrade/

LOL. "Microsoft is planning to release a new operating system called Windows 11 at the end of this year. The company decided to do this because Windows 10’s extremely poor adoption rate."

Yes, I like 7 a lot. It is the best OS MS released. It's the last MS OS I'll run though.

I'm on Win7 because everything works a lot easier for me. I did upgrade to Win10 but every time I shut down my pc it'd switch itself back on which got annoying.

Mature, stable and end user controllable, it is the go to OS these days for those who actually do real work on their computers. It is also visually much better looking than 8 or 10. All of the computers I do real work on use 7. 10 is just for experimenting with and the more I do that, the less inclined I am to actually use it in any practical sense. Just reading the autumn upgrade thread and seeing all the hassles and driver issues associated with it and having the Windows 10 plan doing this up to twice a year is enough to keep me away. Losing important drivers and hours or days of time because MS has decided it's upgrade time is a no go for me and I think that applies to a lot of business users. Add to that the lack of end user control in any but the hugely expensive enterprise editions of Windows 10 will keep me using 7 for a long time to come.

If anyone on Wilders is actually using 7, I am truly shocked. I really like 7 over 10 (games, old hardware), but I moved to 10 because of security reasons. 7 is no longer supported, just some security fixes are scarcely being released. But the fact is, that it is time to let go, not just because of new drivers.

The excellent coverage of Microsoft on the Wilders Forum is another reason why I'm staying with Win 7. :)

AFAIK Windows 7 is still supported and gets security updates till 2020.
And just to speculate - a chance that I would stumble upon a security threat that would work on Windows 7 and not on Windows 10 (because of security improvements) is almost zero.
I'm shocked that so many upgraded to 10 ;)

Haven't used 7 since 8 came out. I think close to 4 years ago now? Currently using Windows 10. More secure and at least for myself more stable. I've never been one for lingering on outdated software.

I call Windows 10 brain washing OS, and buggy as you know what. ;)

For me, 7 is stable and trouble free – not had a single Bluey since ditching AVs 3 years ago. With the direction Microsoft is going with Windows 10, I'm likely to stay with 7 beyond EOL at this stage.

Agree. Have W10 on an office machine that runs a pretty weak dual core, 8gb ram and 7200 rpm and runs very very smoothly.
But I don't like W10. Too invasive, and takes ownership of the system so it basically decides everything for you.
Abandon telemetry, let me decide if I want to update or not, abandon all nag-ware and ads, re-vamp the childish and ugly GUI that clashes so horribly with the underlying "old Windows platform" and we're talking.
W7 is the best OS out there. Until MS messed it up with its mandatory roll-ups and
