As a long time Chrome user I love the ability to auto hide the bookmarks bar when viewing a web page, and have it appear again when I click on a new tab. This gives me just that little bit of vertical space when using my notebook. I can't seem to be able to find such an option on Edge. If this is possible with Edge I would love to know.

For my personal use; I would find it annoying if my Favorites bar automatically hides, then needing to open a new TAB just to have it re-appear. It sort-of defeats the purpose of convenience that it suppose to offer.

However, I also see your point regarding small screens.

Yes I like that about Chrome also. I also got a habit to always open new tab (launch new Chrome process) before visiting new site.

minimalist, that would drive me crazy, another reason why not to install chrome. firefox and edge are way too minimal already. how about a blank screen with no icons or control points? that is the ultimate minimalism they seem to be striving for. it will decide for you if it wants to show you anything.

It's just a setting - "Show bookmarks bar". If you have it enabled it's there all the time, otherwise only on new tab.

    Other (please explain).

I WISH I could use Microsoft Edge without getting "edgy." There's still this link to Internet Explorer which frightens me, no way. Then, there are these little bugs, errors, what have you. There was this freeze/popup issue with scam phone numbers for a while there. Now you can install Adblock Plus and Adblock, OK fine.

I'll stick with third party browsers. I can use Edge and open it very occasionally to test it, but don't want to use it right now.

I tried Edge with Adblock Plus and found that ABP wasn't even working (blocking ads that it should have blocked) half the time. So it's still a no go for me... too many problems.

Just because there’s an option, doesn’t mean you are required to use. This goes for any software, not just Edge browser.

As for the scam tactic and the method used to block input to anything other than the dialog that has appeared. When did this become Edge specific anomaly? This is exactly the same across the board.

I have used IE w/TPL, and Edge w/AdBlock Plus. I’m very impressed with Edge w/AdBlock Plus. The small handful of ads that do get by while I’m heavily surfing about. I hardly consider Edge or AdBlock Plus a failure, considering all the types of anti- ads-blocking measures that exists. The ones that manages to get by is hardly intrusive so far.

If there’s a site that you going to be revisiting multiple times, you can use the AdBlock Plus custom filters.

Like to see some of these sites that Edge w/AdBlock Plus is failing on. If you aren’t using Edge w/AdBlock Plus, then what are you using instead?

I ditched 10 after some other issues and problems appeared the first 2 days after install. I was on linux for a day or two, and tonight I just restored an image of Win 7, so for now I am on 7. I probably won't be using Win 10 any more for a while, so no Edge either, but I may revisit it when they release their next major upgrade, probably sometime next year I would guess. For now, I'm off 10.

I did numerous atempts at shutting the updates down, but it seems they'll just keep automatically updating the OS. That really scares me and removes the whole sense of control over Windows. So me too, am not gonna use 10, but not only for a while, "FOREVAR" :p

I'd be happy to use XP (with the regedit thing to keep receiving updates till 2019) and Vista, though.

I have no beef with Edge's performance, when it works like it's supposed to. I get some errors using Edge, if it's used consistently, how is this going to impact other apps like Cortana, ets. Yes, Adblock Plus is a good extension. My problem is more with its being too embedded in the OS. It took some effort to get a good OS, I don't want to undermine that. Since there are other options, I'll use them! To each his/her own.
