    Hello hayc59,

I normally put new filters at the bottom of the "My filters" list, but it does not matter where you put it. Just be sure to click "Apply changes" once you have added it. All I can say is that filter works for me....

It would be really cool if a "click to play" feature was introduced. On Yahoo Finance it would also be very handy. The strange thing is that on Vivaldi the site feels even heavier than on Firefox, while uBlock seems to be blocking more with the same adblocking filters? But I don't know if it's because it's perhaps not optimized for this browser.

Initially, under settings in chrome, the option "use a prediction service to load pages more quickly" was grayed out with a puzzle piece next to it that indicated that Ublock was preventing the option from being accessed. On a test machine, I removed Ublock and installed Umatrix, but the puzzle piece remains as was as the option being grayed out. Upon clicking the puzzle piece it now says Umatrix is responsible for preventing the option from being accessed.

I cannot seem to locate the option within Umatrix to disable (or enable I suppose) this option, but in Ublock it is right on the first page upon accessing the options page. Do they share a similar setting, or is that setting from Ublock somehow still carrying over even though it is disabled?

Now both extensions are disabled, but the option still is grayed out an inaccessible. I had Ublock installed for quite some time and just uninstalled to play with Umatrix, but could it have altered the setting option permanently?

I seem to have found a work around via group policy under chrome policies, but still strange nonetheless.

Overkill, I noticed there was one that didn't update as well, but I cant remember which one it was. I just clicked update again and it did. Yeah, strange.

Mmmm that one is updated on mine but your total is a lot more than mine. Mines only 1217. Most of my totals are different to yours but I run umatrix as well and have different boxes checked so to avoid overlap, I think the program/s take all that into account. I have mine set to update manually, but I can't see how that would make a difference.

Here lately I've had chrome freeze sometimes at launch saying that it's waiting for ublock origin. It happens on both my laptop (Win 10x64) and desktop (Win7x64). I close chrome and relaunch and it launches fine the second time. Anyone else experiencing this?

FWIW, I'm using that list in uMatrix and it updates without any problems. Do you perhaps filter behind-the-scene requests which could block the respective domain?

Rasheed it's my understanding that the horrible FB can track you across the web without you even clicking on their "like" button. I've recently read quite a bit about this but I'm unclear how it all actually happens. Additionally, it is said that you don't even have to have an account with FB for this to be happening. o_O The other social media buttons etc leave me cold as well.

Are 3rd-party scripts automatically blocked in uBlock's standard (non-dynamic filtering) mode -- or only if Dynamic Filtering has been activated?

I don't know why these questions/concerns arise again and again for someone who has taken, at least, a cursory look at uBlock Origin's documentation, particularly the one about Dynamic Filtering. gorhill has done a great job with explaining how it works. Btw, a precise example is linked at the bottom of that site - it's aimed at blocking Twitter but can be applied to Facebook accordingly.

Preventing Facebook tracking with uB0 is extremely easy.

EDIT: In order to also get rid of those buttons you should activate Fanboy's Social Blocking List. But blocking those network requests with Dynamic Filtering works regardless if you see those buttons or not.

If Dynamic Filtering is not used, only Static Filtering is - i.e., only the rules from the activated filterlists (lik e EasyList etc.) are applied. They can contain rules which block 3rd-party scripts. But generally they are not blocked in the default mode (= Very Easy Mode) but only with Dynamic Filtering. I suggest that you acquaint yourself with the different Blocking Modes in uB0.

Will check it out. But if I understand correctly, the fact that you sometimes see buttons, doesn't mean that the trackers are not being blocked, I didn't know about this thanks.

Same over here, I also don't completely understand how all of this works, and I wonder if it's truly possible to block all kinds of tracking via the browser.

It is! If you block, e.g., facebook in the global column in Dynamic Filtering all network requests to facebook are blocked - everywhere. It's similar like using RequestPolicy.

To clarify, my comments were based on certain stuff that I discovered on my system. Seems like certain browsers like Firefox will also phone home, and I'm not convinced that it isn't used to track people.
